Yeah, wouldn't trade my bike for the world, got offered £1200 for him recently, only paid £1100 for him 40000 miles ago, dad said sell but i just couldn't, plus the amount ive spent on him hes pretty much 60% new parts anyway now!

Becky wrote:Ah cool, i used to live in derby while at uni and have a few friends in leciester. No head shakes but they do tend to look around for the supervising man, which there isn't! My dad calls it an old mans bike and a shed but hes just jealous that i can ride for more than half an hour without aching unlike him!

I love this one. I went for a trip up the west of ireland with my son. First morning the battery on the L T died. West of Ireland on Friday morning is not the best place to be looking for a bateery for an L T. Off to a Halfords half an hour away on the back of my sons bike, no joy. 'There's a guy up the road does ride on lawnmowers. Try him'. Dropped the battery in the counter sheepishly asking would you have anything like this. He reached under the counter and said 'will this do?' As he landed an identical battery on the counter for €50. (£40 in Queens money). Half an hour back and all fine. The bugger posted pics of his Honda trying to start a BMW!

Other end of the trip he had enough of what he called the old mans sofa. Last day we left Caherciveen on the Ring of Kerry heading for Kinsale south of Cork. He took off and left me. But it was one of those nice sunny days and the K found its groove on some great roads and I really enjoyed the run. Meanwhile he was approaching Kinsale after what he felt was a great run home and thinking he had half an hour ahead of me, until he was about 3 miles from home and saw this bike in front of him. He is still scratching his head as to how I got there ahead of him on an old mans bike. All I can say is appearances can be deceptive, those darn Ks will make great time when you are enjoying them.

I have a brother lives in the isle of Man, he rides an S1000RR. Calls mine a pipe and slippers bike. So I just ask him if he would like another cappucino.

Whatever you do, whatever you like, stick with it. I must admit you can ride the K for hours.

Exactly! Plus me my dad and my sister went out the other day on the bikes, she has a one year old 125 and he has a blue one, its a 1100 Honda, y reg. And mine was the only one working :p she had a flat and dads battery was dead so had to push him at every stop. He did mock me at traffic lights when bikey was threating to overheat (fan will be fixed soon) but atleast mine didn't need pushing! Just shows you cant beat an old bmw Wink

The fan on my L T failed. I took to cutting the engine at traffic stops so it wouldn't overheat. This worked very well. I got the RT before sorting it out.

This might help.

Posting pictures is pretty easy, but fairly slow and tedious....

Crazy Frog explains all at the following link:
https://www.k100-forum.com/t998-posting-pictures-and-movies#5126

...but just in case that doesn't work, here's a picture by picture guide.

That's a very good visual 'how to' on posting piccies, which has always seemed to me to be a little too complex for the task at hand....but, I always have to highlight over the line to copy the file I've chosen, then paste it 'manually' to the page as the 'copy' button to the right has never ever worked for me. That could be my computer(s), however, I don't think I'm using the wrong technique all these years now.

Yeah...that's why, at step 4, I suggested highlighting the address and right clicking to copy (i.e. cut & paste manually)- rather than going for the obvious click the "copy" button. I have never had and success with the copy button.

The only other issue I have had with uploading pics is if the original pic is too big - after a suitable pause the site just ignores the request and tells you no file selected. Probably too much processing time to take an 8Mb pic and resize it to forum sized 800 pixels wide - I guess the programme times out.

Yeah i had to highlight it too, wasnt working the other way. Probably shouldnt have shown me how, im always out on him and taking pictures, will get sick of 'and heres another 1000 miles gone', my friends on facebook just dont understand! Speaking of that, does anyone elses speedo decide it doesnt want to workj after its ticked over another 1000? mine does it every time for about 50 miles (or until take it up to 70 in a low gear, which tends to bring it back on)

Yep. The old speedo thingy.

My LT used to do that too, so the easy way is that 4,000rpm is 60mph, 2,000 is 30, etc etc. For us oldies its a great way of exercising the brain on the move.

Lots of posts on the subject, must fix mine on the RT too, suspect its not the rear wheel sensor only because it came with a spares bike [an RS] and it already had the rear sensor put in to no effect.

There are a few guys will do repairs on them. Being an all year round rider the option of taking clocks off for a repair is not on- Ks don't run without the clocks. If you decide to change them important to have the model year and number and type as there are differences and not all are interchangeable.

Dosnt particulary bother me, all part of his charm! just check whereabout 30, 50 and 70 are on the rev counter just before it ticks over the 1000 and im fine ! if i get him to 75 in third it tends to come back on so its not too bad, just more character. Fuel gauge has started lying to me too. when it got to the red bit i used to be able to fit £22 in it. now its £18, not sure fuel has gone down in price...

Ha ha exactly! You have to be strong to handle one when its not moving, for the first week or two after buying him i struggled so much pushing him down the drive but soon got used to it! Its much better to be different than the norm, way more fun. My dad tried to talk me into getting a Suzuki bandit, saying it was more of a girls bike!
