Samco silicone cooling hose kit for K100 BMW-5
I asked Samco if they are planning to make a silicone hose kit for K100 "as there is a wide demand for those for our beloved bikes" (had to be a bit theatral to get their attention...) and their reply was that they need minimum of 10 orders to cover the tooling costs etc. I already sent the hoses for them to be inspected and get an estimation of the kit price (their current kits mostly GBP 40-80 so probably between those marks) so now all we need is to show some interest.

Some copy & paste from their email about the product itself:

* * * * *

Standard hose colours are: Blue, black, red, lime green, yellow, purple, British racing green and orange. (all the same price)
Premium colour options 1: White, pink, classic black (matt finish), gunmetal grey or viper red (+15% extra than standard colours)
Premium colour options 2: Silver, Samco Blaze, Urban Camo, Solar Orange, Ninja Green, Lightning Blue (+35% extra than standard colours)

Some notes on the colours:
Classic black is a totally matt finish and has the Samco logo moulded into the hose – Made to look like ‘factory’ hoses and popular with some older bikes
Gunmetal grey is actually quite a llight grey, almost the same colour as grey primer you would use before putting paint on !
Samco Blaze: This has flames on it – Not everyones taste !
Urban Camo: Different grey colours, a little bit like army camouflage
Solar Orange: Different orange shades – Popular with KTM owners!
Ninja Green: Different green shades – Popular with Kawasaki owners
Lightning Blue: Different blue shades -

Details of colours on Samco website: http://www.samcosport.com/uk/colours.asp

Samco are the leading worldwide brand for silicone hoses and we and supply many of the worlds leading race teams including F1 teams, all the leading Moto GP and Factory WSBK teams. This along with our partnerships in European and World Championship motocross racing, supplying Kawasaki MX1 and MX2 factory racing, KTM Factory Racing and many more top international race teams.

So please, if you would be interested in buying (yes, buying, not just interested...  Razz  ) a kit could you put your name in list below! Also if any questions, I can try to be the middle man between forum and Samco (but don't shoot the messenger!). Also words "discount for forum members" was said, but no certain percentage numbers yet...  Very Happy   As said, the price will be cleared later so no "open cheque orders" needed (main thing is to show there is the demand for product) - the sales will be through Samco's bike kit dealer Racebikebitz (http://racebikebitz.co.uk/).

I have no connections with Samco, except that I have used their hoses in many of my previous bikes (and the quality is excellent!).

Sounds interesting.  What's the problem I'm trying to solve by changing my hoses from rubber to silicone?  What are the advantages over OEM?

Well theoretically silicone hoses last longer than traditional "rubber hoses", they can take bigger pressure and can operate in higher temperatures, but let's face it - is mostly about the looks...  Laughing

At least my K's 26 year old hoses are in need of replacement and Samco kit would be not only better-looking (even in black) option, but also probably cheaper compared to OEM hoses.

HeikkiL,
I'm genuinely interested providing they sell across the pond at a reasonable rate. I'd dig the blue big time.

Awhile back I think I saw their K75 kit on eBay and inquired re K100 availability, to which they replied that the kit fit the K75, not the K100.  No kidding... nothing like condescending obfuscation (can one put those two words together?).

News-news-news (with words of Samco / Racebikebitz):

Samco have now costed the BMW K100 hose set and it will have a retail price of £90.00+VAT. The hoses are actually more complicated to manufacture than most, as there are some unusual steps in the original hoses, which makes the tooling more complicated to manufacture.

So, we really need you to push as hard as you can on the forum for sales, as we have been instructed to get a minimum order of 15 sets before production can begin.

We have set-up a part number on our website as follows:- http://racebikebitz.com/BMW-K-100-1982-1992-5-Piece-Samco-Sport-Coolant-Hose-Kit  Please note the picture used is for illustration purposes and is not a picture of the actual kit itself !!

We have also set up a special 10% off discount code of K100, so if any members wish to purchase a kit, they can enter this coupon code at the checkout and get the discount. Naturally, you can still select what colour you want from the drop down box and delivery charges are automatically worked out by the website, based on location.

If anybody places and order and we cant get very close to the 15 sales, then of course we will be happy to offer a full refund, but hopefully by now we have lots of interested people who are eager to buy some nice, shiny Samco hoses!!

Even though they offered me a free kit (I sent my Beemer's hoses for models), I ordered a kit also myself, so just 14 more needed...   :cyclops:

Seems nobody needs these? So far Racebikebitz have gotten 2 orders (I am the other one...) so soon can wave bye-bye for the hose kit. And pretty sure at least Samco won't try publishing that kit anymore.

My Samco hoses on the way (I almost gave up hope...) and Racebikebitz stocks them in blue and black, other colours on order. Soon we'll see how they go with The K.

HeikkiL, Hi,

What year is your K100.?  I have a K1, 1991, am wondering if this kit will also fit my bike, or the K1100.

Cheers Jeremy

The hose between the filler cap and radiator, and between the radiator and
water/oil pump is similar.
But the two last hoses is different on a K1.

Mine is an '86/'88 8-valve RT, and Inge already knew the differences between the 8v and 16v hoses.

In my previous reply I did have the differences between K100 and K1 in mind,
other models could be different.

EDIT: Another check reveals that the complete set will fit K100 8V models only.
