Here's my dilemma.

I fitted a new battery (Odyssey) a couple of weeks ago. After about 4 days in the garage without use the battery was pretty much flat. I recovered it again with an Optimate, but there was clearly a drain somewhere. After searching on here I read that a faulty ABS relay could be the culprit. I got a 2nd hand one from Motorworks cheaply and since then the battery doesn't appear to be discharging - all good, however the ABS lights are still flashing. The reset has no effect.

Refering to Toshi's site it appears to indicate an error code 6 - defective ABS relay or weak battery. The battery is OK and Im assuming the relay is OK.

Can the relay be tested?

Any other possibilities?

I have seen ABS systems drain the battery. My wife's K75 had ABS problems similar to what you describe and it got to the stage where we used to disconnect the battery all the time when it was sitting idle and after a visit to Dr Tosi all has been good now for years.
The bike can sit for 2 months now and start immediately where it used to discharge the battery in a week.
I have come across this a few more times since where it has been thought the battery was cactus till the ABS was fixed.
Sometimes the fault code would say a 5 for battery or a 7 for internal fault. Sometimes a 7 is mistaken for a 6 because you should count 7 off not 6 on, you count the number of times the tester goes off, the best thing to use is an LED with a 470 ohm resistor in series.

Seems I am reading my (returned) fault code wrongly. I have been counting the on flash to 7, would that suggest that I should be reading it as a 6 instead? Meaning (if I am correct) I should count the off between each flash, but not after the last flash?

There should be a voltage at the centre pin all the time under normal condition (10 volts if memory serves me correctly)
and if a code 7 is produced the voltage will go off 7 times. So what you get is a constant light on for 2-3 seconds then 7 times off then on again for 2-3 seconds then a repeat of the code and that will happen till the fault is cleared then if there is also another fault it will start the code for that.
