Hi all!!

I'm Carl. I live in Leicester in the UK. I''ve just purchased a 1985 K100rt with 38k miles to cafe race.
I'm so excited to be starting this new project!!!
I will be taking a 2hr drive and be collecting it this Friday coming (12th Feb) from Oxfordshire. I've managed to source a complete K1100rs front end along with rear wheel already for it. I'm itching to get started

Welcome here!

Ask questions anytime. Pictures would be great :-)

You'll find a lot cacao racer projects here, just use the search function and than klick in google on "pictures"

Besides that, a good cacao racer is a renovated bike, first things first.
So you just bought a used BMW K-Series Motorcycle...

Here is my personal collection of cacao racer

I do have some pictures of how I bought her. How do you upload pictures to this site I'm a bit lost to how?

Hi Carl. WelKome to K-world.

To post a pic: When you open a new post text editing page, you'll see 2 picture icons on the tool bar a little left of the Youtube button. When you hover your pointer over the buttons you'll get a pop-up to tell you what they are.
Just click the left one (Host an image), then click 'Browse' to select a pic from your computer, then click 'Host'. You'll get 3 links after a sort time. Click the middle one to select it, then copy it (CTRL+C) then click inside your text box and paste it (CTRL+V) into your post.

It's a good idea to have a look around at the links on the Portal tab.... lots of info.

Cheers

Kaptain Holister explained already how to add pictures.
Here is a other link
https://www.k100-forum.com/t11-how-to-include-pictures-with-your-post

You know, adding pictures is a official intelligence test from BMW, that allows and qualifies you as a K cacao racer rider :-)
So show us you can do it!

Cheers

.... oh yeah.... Posting pics from a tablet doesn't seem to work unless you have a link and then you can paste it using the second picture toolbar button.... I think 😕

Works for me on my iPhone, iPad, Windows PC and Mac.
I'm sure it works on Androids too.
You can copy the link in Android too, just try.

But your Mac will do it!

Cheers

You will need the front master cylinder for that front end as well.

some better shots

The previous owner stripped all fairing off to do a deep clean, he stripped forks and rebuilt, new wheel bearings etc...I got it for an absolute bargain price of £675. NOT BAD IF YOU THINK A BRAND NEW HAGON REAR SHOCK IS AROUND THE £300 mark.

I'll be selling all fairing and panniers etc

Nice pictures, do you deserve the bargain?
Have you been nice to your mom and girlfriend :-)

Honestly, it looks good but you will have do some work, it'll be a nice bike if you do a good job.

Looking forward seeing you ride the bike.

Cheers

The K1100 front end should be a simple replacement.  Adapting the 20mm master cylinder and throttle to the K100 will require some modifications.  I've written up this modification in the How-to section.

Welcome from across the pond!  I must comment on that purchase -- the previous owner did a wonderful job cleaning things up.  I can't imagine me getting the engine bits on my '85 looking so new.  Great find and a nice way to start your project -- without so much drudgery.
