This is on the Trans Canada highway.
At exit 11, if you turn right, the temperature will start to drop and if you turn left it eventually gets warmer.
In fact if you go 100 km one way or the other, you may find a difference of few degrees in temperature.

How different were BMW K100RTs made for Europe (mine was made for Switzerland) and the ones made for other countries?

The one from Switzerland has a rev limiter which limit the top speed of the bike. You get the same torque or power at low rpm, but the injection may be cutting at 7,000 rpm in stead of 8,000
The US version of the 1985 has different cam shafts to comply with the California pollution regulation. it is limited to 80 Bhp.

I never exceed the redline, which starts at 6500 on my bm... The max speed I ever drove with my bm was 160 km/h (100 mph), and this was only once, and then I felt guilty that I could ever do so for my bike and promised my bike I'd never do the same again...
