So happy to find this site. After a 26 year break from riding I stumbled on a 1985 K100RT buried way back in a barn while looking for automobile parts. Asked the owner about and it and told me he lost interest in riding years ago. Original owner with documents and 29K on the odometer. With a bit of horse trading (set of tires/wheels) I'm now the proud owner for the past 1 1/2 years. Brought it home and completely went though the bike repairing, replacing, and polishing. Every drop of fluid changed, tires replaced, brakes, well I'm sure most of you know the routine. Three months later she fired right up and hasn't missed a beat since. I just return from a 4k mile ride though the 11 Western States without a single problem, despite severe heat though Arizona and New Mexico. Bike now has 39K and just reshimed the valves, new plug wires (ouch) and a good going though. I ride mostly alone. Love to wake up early on Sunday's and run two tanks of gas though the injectors. I'm very lucky to live in a area where the roads cut though some of world's best vineyards and 20 minutes to the Pacific Coast Highway. I've been known to sneak off for the weekend and run up to Crater Lake for a quick getaway. Since I've owned the bike my wife has noticed a much more relaxed and happy person in me. She's right!
