I have ridden my black, 1991 K100RS more than 100,000 miles, including Boston-Duluth around Lake Superior in 2017. Recently replaced original brake lines with stainless steel, replaced rear engine seal, and lubed splines. Also Tosi Tabu serviced the ABS ECU which was found to be defective by MAX BMW in New Hampshire, USA. Glad to have found the K100 forum.

Welcome!  I did the Huron/Superior loop in October of 2017.  Beautiful scenery up there!

WelKome!

Those black 4V RSs are great Ks.  I had a 91/92 that I put together from three parts bikes.

Welkome to the forum. Here you'll find all manner of advice, opinion, characters, & miscreants of a charitable nature, 99% of the aforementioned polite and humble.

I lived near Concord (the shot heard round the world & famous grapes) back in the late '70s, a place called Pepperell, aka Peeperville, not far from you at all.

By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.
− Emerson, "Concord Hymn"

On the night of my 16th winter
I found within me a heart that withered
Like a plum purple grape
Left out in the sun on a gold plate

That looks very nice but you missed some of the pinstriping.  Razz

Yes, it was a conscious decision to make the paint job a little less busy and simplify the masking.

I may have to go back and do the mudguard with blue, and then I may as well do the rest of it, but for now it looks pretty good.

In the late '80s I had ridden from New Mexico where I resided at the time, and was camped out at Flagler Beach, FLA for Daytona Bikeweek. The local Beemer club used to grab a slice of the mostly-HD campground's soft sand under magnificent, Spanish moss-covered oak trees. A young guy and his girlfriend had ridden down from New England for the event, and they were astride the blue & white RS, an example of which you two are referring. I couldn't help but eye that sweet thing for the week (the bike, not his girlfriend, tho' she was particularly cute in her leathers), and rode with them often to the track and the beach, admiring its lines. I recall that it was the first ABS model in the states, just before those two amazing-looking K1 were introduced and ridden round the dirt oval at the '89 York, PA BMWMOA rally site on a swelteringly humid Saturday arvo. It remains one of the nicest looking BMW paint schemes, along with my personal favourite, the original '77 R100RS in blue-gray-primer.

Turned out I knew this guy's family from Pepperell, MA, where his uncle ran an apple orchard (now a housing estate and public lands) at the top of Heald Street. My youngest brother lives a half mile down the hill near the pond and is also a K rider. He owns the blue K1100RS with the K12LT engine that was once owned by Duck. Another K Koinkydink.
