The search is on - I'm trying to fit shorter bars to my recently acquired '91 K75. It came with the standard RT high bars and I'm looking for an alternative. I have a set of RS/S bars that are just too short for me. It appears that the 'C' bars are no longer available. The part numbers are still active as a custom order but they have been back-ordered by BMW for nearly a year. This usually means 'no longer available'. Is there a BMW handlebar expert (GURU) out there that knows which parts from other bikes might be close to the 'C' style bars that will also have the 22mm bar size? I have tried all the usual sources, even Flanders has nothing close to this dimension, and we know there are issues with the 7/8" bars.

One option would be to find some 7/8" bars with a geometry that you like and then trim the diameter down to fit the K bike throttle and clutch perches.  I bought a K100 rat bike for parts once where somebody had done that to some 7/8" Renthal handlebars in order to make them work with the K perches.

The easiest way to fit 7/8 bars would be to ream (not file) the perches out to 7/8.

Only problem is that the lever/switch/throttle mounts would then be a big issue. You would also never be able to go back to BMW bars without changing the mounts and switches etc. back, which could be expensive.

As Bill has indicated, reaming the switch blocks would limit their value if you decided your handlebar selection didn't make the grade. It would be better to sand a 7/8 bar until the 22mm switches and throttle tube fit onto it. I sanded through heavy chrome plating on a handlebar to fit BMW 22mm gear. It's meditative work.

Used C-bars turn up; search persistently. I've seen two for sale this year in the States and I wasn't looking for them.

Check with Flanders in California.  They have a very long history of providing handle bars for everything you can think of. Actually, they are purveyors of many other m/c items as well.

The original post indicates the Flanders site has already been searched.

If there are no suitable OEM bars on fleabay or other sources and none of the 15 styles of BMW replica bars offered by Flanders is acceptable, then it seems to me the only solution is to have a shop fabricate the bars as a custom item.  That could be expensive but hey, it's only money!  
I stand by my recommendation: Flanders is a practical source for most folks.

Another option would be to get some barbacks to use with S/RS bars.  (If you do get barbacks then make sure they're for Ks and have holes in the fronts of them so that you can move the dash pad back with the bars.)
