Hey all trying to replace a damaged nut from throttle body 3 on my 87 k100 rs. My verniers tell me approx 25 threads per inch and 8mm diameter. I assumed it was M8 x 1.00mm but when I try to screw a similar nut on a shaft it does not seem to fit? Can anyone please inform me of the thread size on the end of the butterfly shafts for the Half nut

Most likely M8 1.5/1.25

In tap & die sets there's a thread pitch gauge. Or get one separately from a tools supplier or auto parts shop. It's an essential tool in any garage except the ones that only store surfboards.

Multiple Guinness....Giunnai? I can never, ever have just one. Down my local they have US pints (16oz) and a proper pint. The waitstaff (well, when they were open for bidness) always just handed me the 20oz version, no questions asked. It's barely the crack of noon here soon, but I might have to run down to the packy (New Englander for package store or bottle shop), grab a sixer and blow the froth off a few.

Well the correct answer goes to Chris 846.I think I might have been on the Guinness also? I confirmed it is in fact M8 x 1.00mm but for some reason on Throttle Body 3 the thread is left hand. Feel a bit silly for overlooking that.
So after many phonecalls today I cannot for the life of me source a M8 x 1.00mm Half Nut with left hand thread. open to suggestions

It's because the throttle linkage is attached to that spindle and would tend to unscrew a RH thread - same applies to throttle 2 on a '75. Reason I know? - 'cos I almost destroyed a spindle trying to screw the nut back on the 'right' way when I swapped the throttle quadrant over on the K75k. You learn from your mistakes they say, well I graduated from the School of Mistakes.
If you're struggling for a nut, I could send you a spare?

Chris, I understand now as to why, just feel like a dick for not recognizing earlier. But as you say we learn from our mistakes.
I would love it if you could send me a nut. If you message me I will transfer some money to you to cover postage and nut costs, and maybe a few Guinness.
