One of the issues with converting H4 halogen to LED is the resultantly poor light pattern, at times just plain dangerous for other drivers.  If you've got a vintage BMW or a retro-customisation (like mine) which is using 7" round H4 housings or sealed beam, then there is a great replacement I was made aware of today.

Holley is producing a LED based 7 in. round - modern-tech upgrade for old-school sealed beam headlight systems  The unit  is designed from the ground up to produce a bright accurate beam pattern, with quality components it appears.  It should be a drop in replacement for the H4 housing.  The light is available in two color temperatures - 3000K and 5700K, and the brightness is 32,000cd (Low) / 53,000cd (High).  Current draw is 25W (low) / 30W (high) which is half the power drawn by a standard H4. Price is "competitive" with roll your own solutions, $200 Yankee Bucks.

It would be nice if they made an RS/RT compatible version, but I'm not holding my breath . . .

They also have a line of rectangular LED headlamps, in 4" x 6" size and 5" x 7" size. I'm not at all sure what the size of the RS/RT lamps are.

Well, I guess I'll be the first to review this product. I went out and purchased one today.

Definitely let us know what you think of the product Robmack and how well it works.  I've switched to an H4 LED bulb and while I think it is much better overall, I wonder if a headlamp designed as a complete unit might not be better.

Thanks,  Woodie

Well, all I can say is that this product is vapourware.

I placed my order Jan 31 and cancelled it April 28 after enduring a lengthy wait with continuously changing delivery dates. I called up Holley several times to find out the status of my order only to be told that they were still waiting on delivery from the manufacturer. The Holley rep told me that they have over 900 of these LED headlamps on backorder for waiting customers.

Have you guys ever checked out Trucklite?

They have been making DOT approved LED headlights for tractor trailers for about 10 years that I know of.  Their lighting products are on hundreds of thousands of transport trucks in North America.  I have seen their 7" headlight for small trucks on Amazon.
