Greetings to everybody from a new young rider from Finland who made the best (or worst) mistake of getting a 1987 K100RS as their first bike.

Looking forward to learning about bikes in general and especially the car on two wheels that I now have and to the many thousands of kilometers to come.

Been on the road for under a week at this point! Still getting used to her size, weigth and what she got to offer having completed my license on a much smaller bike.
Originally stumbled across the forum as I was trying to figure out the source of the famous whiney engine noise.

The Flying Brick is the first bike I own myself. And I meant that I completed my license on a Yamaha MT-7, ~150kg, and the duration was only the riding classes. Well, now its time to actually learn to ride on a bit of a bigger bike from the getgo. So, literally a new rider Razz

An engine 40% bigger is a bigger bit than just a bit bigger. It should be exciting. How many kilometers on the odometer?

A ripe 94k is what the odometer says. And yes it is exciting though not that the Brick is much faster due to it's weight.

Is that right? They let you launch that Yammy across the testing site for time trials? Laughing

You can feel it, see it on the speedo and it's simple arithmatic to deduct that outcome since my bike has let a few horses escape along the years bringing the kilos of Watts to 58 and the Yammy is much lighter. The Brick is a heavy girl.
But yes, I did floor it across the test site.  New Rider from Finland 652573

Add to that that my Brick has a legal power restriction for my license as a new rider, leveling the playing field for now, but even before the restriction the Brick didn't fly quite as well as the Yammy. wah woh. A bit nonsensical in my opinion the restriction Rolling Eyes , but bike still hauls when needed.

I forgot about that feature over there. Time flies even if your Brick doesn't. In the meantime, it will tone your quadriceps far better than the Yammy. New Rider from Finland 112350
