I went to fill in the warranty card for my new garage fan. However after reading the warranty card I am confused as to what parts are actually covered. Read item #2. I think I may have destroyed the only bit that was covered. The box it came in.  scratch
Regards a confused Martin.

Item #1 says "carry in service only".

Where do you have to carry it to get warranty service?  And then you have to wait there while they "service" it?

Hmmm...

I just fired off a query as to what's covered to the mob I bought it off along with a copy of the warranty.  As follows.

I am a bit confused as to what parts are covered after reading the warranty card item # 2. After reading it I believe I have destroyed the only part covered as in the box it came in.Clarification would be helpful as to whether it would be worthwhile sending off the warranty.
Regards Martin.

Looking forward to the reply. When is a warranty not a warranty. 44271

It is all bluff Australia has very specific laws regarding shit like that. "Australian consumer protection laws" were introduced on 1/1/2011 and are very comprehensive. If you purchased it in Australia that piece of paper is just that a piece of paper. However if you purchased it from Aliexpress then tough titty and if it fails then kiss your money good bye.
I buy quite a bit of stuff from eBay and aliexpress and have the attitude that there is no warranty.

I would send a copy of that and your receipt to Qld Fair Trading and then sit back and watch what happens.
I bought a Matson battery charger which had a "lifetime warranty" It was supposed to be a maintenance charger and specifically stated that it could be left connected and would not harm the battery.
I left it on the battery of the X5 while we were away for 3 weeks and it totally discharged and shagged the $400 battery.
I sent it back with a note attached and was sent a new one which did the same thing. Matson refused to do anything claiming that there was nothing wrong with the original and it was only replaced in good faith so I went to Fair trading and got my money back and a new battery and Matson's parent company Tridon got a whopping big fine.
They did not even read the note I included with the return.
The chargers are still on sale and from what I can see still fuck batteries My local auto shop said he kept getting returns and no longer stocks them.
I bought a Projecta which works fine.

Thanks Rick I might do that if and when I get a reply. You have to admit it's a pretty strange warranty. Retailers website states 2 year warranty written warranty states 1 year.

And what about #6? "non-commercial use only"

Do stores have heavier air or something?

My Royal Enfield 500 Bullet came with a three year warranty, but when it developed a charging fault twenty months in (fix it myself when it's under warranty? Go away! Very Happy ) and I called the shop from whom I bought the bike, I was told they are no longer an Enfield dealer. They did have good reason, so not cussing and shouting. Turns out that my nearest Enfield dealer is now almost 100 miles away across 43 miles of water... I think that's pretty much invalidated the warranty.

I love it when you buy a television or an air conditioner and then learn that in order to make a warranty claim you need to ship the item(at your expense) to some address three states away in the original packaging!

What the heck are you supposed to do with all the boxes and styrofoam packing?

If you want some bedtime reading and it will more than likely put you to sleep Google "Competition and Consumer Act 2010" Oh boy didn't the robber barons scream about this but it sure made them behave in a civilized way.

And that is why I replace all the packaging back in the original box and store it in the shed near the roof until I forget about it.  Then I throw it out or cut it up to use.

When I was younger and moving about a bit, the boxes for my stereo system were invaluable to prevent removalists damaging stuff.
