Well not quite that bad. But as I slow down to stop as I go down through the gears  the bike sometimes will backfire, not often but do they all do this? Runs fine at any speed and idles well. Only got 1600km on it since it's resurrection.

K75's can be more prone to backfiring than K100's and is often described as part of their character. In order to minimise/eliminate this you can do the following. Eliminate exhaust leaks especially header to muffler, eliminate air intake leaks, set the TPS, set the mixture, balance the throttle bodies, check for correct injector spray pattern, and fully close the throttle on downhill over run. Mine used to be a prodigious back firer, it only backfires now if I fail to fully close the throttle on over run. If you don't want to go through all the steps you can just put it down to it's character.
Regards Martin.

Great list. I found if I kept the throttle closed it did not backfire. I'll be more careful. When I ride with others I am known as backfire, I also do not use the side stand with the attendant cloud of oil smoke at start up when near these guys!

The backfire can be used to get car drivers attention or just to annoy them.

Depending on the bike, you can sometimes reduce the startup smoking by stopping the engine whilst still upright, and remaining that way for a few seconds before leaning it onto the sidestand.

It's so nice to know that someone else is just as childish as I am.

We must grow older, but growing up is totally optional.

And I have opted out.
