The post from my fellow Canuck in Ottawa has prompted me to introduce myself. Earlier this year I "inherited" a 1986 K100 RT one owner with 14,000 km. It had been started briefly about 3 years ago and prior to that it was more than 10 years since it ran. Prior to starting and riding it myself, I researched extensively on the internet (but for some reason only recently found this forum), serviced and went over the bike carefully. In a cloud of blue smoke that you all seem to be familiar with, I was riding again. What a joy! I have been riding daily for the last couple of months now after >30 years since my last bike. I replaced the hard as rock, cracked sidewall tires, fiddled with the exhaust heat shield, numerous other little issues but it's cool. I'm finding all the great solutions you have posted and really appreciate them. Thanks!

Thanks RT from the land of the slightly deteriorating weather. I don't want the dream police so I'll have to get you some pics.

Welcome to the k100forums, G35. Glad you've decided to ride a Flying Brick. You won't be disappointed with its reliability and predictable performance. I'm in Toronto so not too far but not around the corner either. Sometimes I get out to Ottawa on business though.

Good work K Freak, us Aussies love to abbreviate stuff.

So if it's OK with you g35corona, we'll call you g35.

Welcome...and you need to explain the g35corona moniker.

I'll go first. You like Corona Beer and you have consumed 35 gallons of the stuff in one go?

Thanks for the welcomes guys! Ya, coming up with a user name is always a pain in the butt. The g35 comes from the Infiniti G35 coupe that has hardly turned a wheel since I got the bike going. You guessed it, corona is the favourite beer. I imagine the corona will be in my life a lot longer than the g35, so it's probably better if I'm called corona.
robmack I live in Ajax, so we're pretty close.
geordnz As with all these things there is a bit of a story but probably too long for this forum. I know the original owner but for the last few years it had been parked in an unheated wooden garage. When I got it, the engine compartment was bursting with mouse nest and droppings to the point that it was overflowing through the fairing vents. Some birds nestings and sh*t was all over it. It's pretty sound and tight like a new bike to the point when I first rode it, I was wondering if it was a four speed because I couldn't get it into fifth. The more I ride it, the better it gets!

Hi g35 ... I'm relatively new as well and out in Cape Breton. Welcome to this forum, which will help you get through any additional teething problems on your new K. You've made the right decision ... these bikes are truly grand.

Ah, Ajax is right in my neighbourhood; I'm in North York around the 401 and 404. We'll have to meet up over a Corona sometime. Very Happy
