Finally got to ride the bike today 1985 K100 RS but the instruments are vibrating, there is a metal plate mounted to the handlebar mount which appears to have sticky tape residue or old foam. should this be attached to the instruments looked at the Haynes and Clymer manuals nothing conclusive there.

Again any help appreciated

Hi ali,
Your plate is fitted the wrong way round.
The side that has foam on it (the foam shouldn't be there) should be against the handlebar pad.

Paul.

Paul do you mean that the foam part should be under the instruments?

Inge not sure about the vibration only got it to about 30 MPH first time on a bike for 20 years so was taking it easy in our work car park.

ali,
Take the plate out, turn it through 180* and put it back.

You'll find that you then have clearance for the cluster to float on it's rubbers and absorb any vibrations.

Paul.

Good going Ali. take it easy on that machine until you get a few hundred miles under your wheels, or better still book a couple of lessons with a pro to get you back with good habits. I did after a 16yr absence and it was well worth the time and small expense.

Good result Ali,

K problems are sometimes silly little things that are not immediately obvious.

Enjoy your bike,
Paul.
