Hello Everyone

I just wanted to give you all a quick introduction. I am a newer street bike rider (previously only dirtbikes) and the proud new owner of a 1985 K100RS. I am currently a full-time student with very limited funds so any help with repair advice will be greatly appreciated. My bike has been modified into a sort of custom cafe racer and I completely love the way it looks this way. I should be able to get some pictures up soon!

Congratulations and welcome to the forum!

I think you'll find the K100RS to be a fun and reliable bike (with maintenance, of course). And smiles-per-mile - it's also cheap!

There's lots of information here, particularly about maintenance. Read carefully, and take heed from the advice of others.

Keep us posted with your experiences. That's what it's all about!

Welcome Colorado
they are a nice bike and you will be surprised how much of your own work you can do with help here.
You are not alone in not having a big budget, but that's part of the fun.
I guess it's cooling down there for you, we are about to hit peak riding season so settle in for the winter and read what the crazy southerners get up to.
Cheers RT

Ok Colarado first thing to remember on street bike v dirt bike is standing on the pegs looks silly coz the handlebars are too far down Laughing It's a long time since I was a student but I'm still on limited funds, my kids see to that! So you need never worry about looking for the most economical repair and the guys on the forum will help you distinguish when you can and can't compromise on parts etc.

Good to have you along. Enjoy the bike and post a pic as soon as you can (you have to be registered for a week & see stick in general forum on how to). We like them!

Welcome Colorado.

As more and more people from the US/Canada registered, soon, we will be able to have a North American K100 gathering.
You just registered to the right forum. Our goal is to keep the K100s on the road and we are always trying to help newbies (or inexperienced people).
We have a lot of experienced people ready to help.

Cheers,

CF

Hi Colorado,
Great to have you with us, dirt bike riding is a great start to road riding as it tunes your reflexes and gives a level of understanding of how bikes behave that is not often experienced on the road.
Regards,
K-BIKE
