Hi my name is Greg .

After 10 yr.with out a bike ( the corvette years) in June I got my first BMW from a buddy.

A great looking 85 K100 RT, this is a lot more comfortable than the 76 HD Sportster I had before.(I will try to load pics. later) I look forward to making longer trips than I did on the sportster.

already planning trip to Elkhart lake (WI) for the bike races in June.

I also like shooting sports, fishing, hunting, camping, boating,to many hobbies not enuff funding

I look forward to all the advice on taking care of my RT because it's so much fun to have a classic bike, I know I will have lot's of questions. Have a Great day Greg

Welcome to the forum, Greg. It's a great place to hang out if you're discovering the Mighty K bike. I reckon you'll find it a good place with a lot of really great folk.

BTW, for those forum members anywhere but North America, WI is the US postal service's abbrev for Wisconsin, home of the cheese heads. I'm temporarily living in WA, but I could be in WV, or WY. Dunno who thought up these things...

Nice looking seat - should make it easier to cover big miles than the Hawg. I see you've got the series 3 panniers, which I think make the k100 look amazingly current. Welcome along plenty of answers here for all your questions.

Welcome along Greg,
I'm with you 88, sure is a comfy looking seat, time and distance will tell.
Who did the grafix work, you or your buddy.
Thats a decent sized lunch box on the back, good for rallying ,,Hint, hint.. Very Happy
With that size box it"s surprising a hitch was needed, unless it was to take along the motel room.

Enjoy the ride and your time on the forum.
Cheers Ed.

My name is Jim, I just got my '85 K100rs and am getting it ready for my weekly Sunday ride to Kenosha this summer. Good to have another midwesterner join. If you ever get down to Kenosha on Sunday afternoon, let's hook up. I want to offer the Kenosha Yacht Club up for midwest K destination. Great place. Great looking Bike.

Welcome Greg...and others that have missed welcoming.
Good muldoons here!
One of the great things about this mob is that there is hardly anyone...that has not encountered about anything that one can do to/with these bikes.
Pretty neat that one can go from reading stuff about pins on the ECU... to Dang...dropped it in the gravel and such. Smile

Thats an interedsting K. Wish you well with it.

Mine is 92 and same colour with same fairing and seat. But the knee pads have ventilation slots in them which in winter are fantastic if you take out the two vertical baffles that are behind them. The knee pads have one screw down under and the other two also hold the glove gox in place, either side of the latch. The baffle has two further screws in it. Could be worth finding those knee pads on eBay if you oike to use the K in winter.....

You have to take those out anyway to move the petrol tank to get at the coolant refill and top up over the radiator. You will have to do same on left side and disconnect the fuel pipes. However thes e perish, check them and if you replace them with longer ones you can then access the coolant simply by removing right hand knee pad/box and baffles and just lifting the petrol tank back instead of having to remove all the stuff on the left, depressurise the fuel system and disconnect the pipes.

A K bike in winter is as welcome as a cool beer in summer.....
