So here are some pics of my outfit that started life as a blue '86 K100RS

My sidecar outfit. Img12

This picture is from a few years ago, but apart from the front damper units, it is much as it is today.
The forks, subframe and wheels are from Wasp. I had been to a sidecar motocross meeting in Germany, so I thought 'if they can make outfits to stand that sort of work, that's what i want'.

My sidecar outfit. 00711

Although the chair is quite commodious, because the sidecar wheel is inboard, the outfit is quite narrow. From the edge of the sidecar to the end of the rider's footrest, is just under 5' (150cm). Not much wider than a Gold Wing?

My sidecar outfit. Bmw_cl10

The sidecar is a Martello, made in Kent UK. They only made about 20 units and my '88 version is one of the last ones made.
I didn't like the 'universal' chassis that came with it so I made my own, so my chassis will only fit a K with a Wasp subframe. I incorporated a tow bar in the design.
The interior of the body was just bare fibreglass with a seat in the middle. This allowed me to use my immagination to do all the trim, firstly fitting a divider between the passenger compartment and the boot (trunk).

My sidecar outfit. Ssl10730

Huge boot, loads of room for camping kit. I once went to Germany with a Manx Norton engine, most of a 500cc vincent engine and all I required for a week's visit just in the boot.

My sidecar outfit. Ssl10731

This is the passenger's outlook, with a few buttons to play with. The 'buzz' button is to alert me if the passenger needs anything (like a neccessary toilet stop!)
I made the heated seat last year, using the resistance wire from an old car seat.My sidecar outfit. 06910

My sidecar outfit. Ssl10732

A Suzuki GSX750R hugger fills the gap left by using a 15" wheel.

My sidecar outfit. Ssl10733

A view of the Gloucestershire countryside.....oh dear somebody's left a bike in the way.

My sidecar outfit. Slimbr10

So raise a glass to K's everywhere,
Cheers,
Paul.

It was great to see all that detail. Quite inspiring.

That's a really nice job. Very good details and the interior of the chair is downright....commodious as you said! How much does it weigh? Have you done anything with the stock gearing?

Hi Sean,
The total weight, from our MOT test is 933 lbs, 424Kg.
The standard gearing 31/11 for the RS is used, although a slight reduction is afforded by the smaller rear wheel. I use a full profile 145x15 rear tyre because I don't want to reduce the gear ratio any further! It will still pull away in 4th gear (well, you have to try these things, don't you?) so it's no problem at all.
On the front I use a 145/60x15, which is readily available as the Smart car front tyre.

Thanks for the other comments guys,
Cheers,
Paul.

That's interesting, given that the stock gearing ( for my RT) is 100kph at 4,000rpm, ( indicated)..what is yours doing?

I'm running a 165/15 on mine. I also have a rim which takes the 145/15. At this point, I'm happy with the way it is. With the profile of the car tyre, I notice absolutely no difference to the stock rear wheel set up.
Sean.

This weekend I've been in the Derbyshire peak district, camping about 1/4 mile from Monsal Head.

En route, somewhere north of Ashbourne on a B road.

My sidecar outfit. Sam_0015

Two of my friends, despite having outfits and a choice of sensible solos, decided to use their tiddlers, a 125 Honda and a 100 Yamaha, just for the hell of it.

My sidecar outfit. Sam_0110

Of course they found the narrowest of lanes and twistiest of roads which suited their bikes but I did manage to keep up with them and we ended up playing in the ford at Tissington.

My sidecar outfit. P8110010

Just another magic w/e, 6 guys with tents, 5 bikes (2 K's, Norton arrived on Saturday with his 75), good pubs, great roads and stunning scenery.

Cheers,

Paul.
