Hi. all.
The ABS unit on my 16v is faulty, ( I have changed it with the ABS unit from my K1 and everything is then fine). It shows as a fault 7 on the diagnostic plug. My question for you guys is has anybody used the services of "Tabu Tosi" in Japan to repair their faulty ABS unit. His web site seems quite impressive and he seems to know a lot about the ABS units. His prices are quite acceptable when you compare them to the price of a good second hand unit here in the UK. I was wondering what the prices are to post the item to Japan from the UK and if I would be liable to customs charges when the repaired unit arrives back in the UK.
Thanks Russ

Many of us including me and he does a very good job at very reasonable prices with a quick turnaround.
I can't speak for UK but in Oz we just declare that it is going for repair and then no problems with tax when coming back in.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I had virtually made my mind up to send him the ABS unit and see what happens. Your confidence in his ability and swift turnaround have now convinced me to go ahead. Incidentally a second hand ABS unit from my nearest supplier (Motorworks) is nearly £300 sterling
Thanks Russ

Tosi was really good, he sent several emails letting me know of the progress and when he found that only one transidtor needed replacing in one of the units I sent he only charged me for that and now with 2 bikes with working ABS I am very happy.
I will ask you, did or are you finding that your battery is loosing its charge very quickly. I ask because my K75 was doing that and after Tosi fixed the ABS it has stopped doing it but I cant figure out why as there seems to be no connection to ABS when the ignition is off.

Have e-mailed Tosi this afternoon to ask for his postage details and will send him the unit ASAP. You were correct with regards the customs charges, ie. if it is marked up as a warranted repair no duty is requires by Her Majesties customs and revenue.
I have not noticed any particular differences in the rate of battery discharge with the faulty ABS unit but then again the bike is always left on the Ultimate charger when not in use so I may not have noticed it.

Russ

I bought a reconditioned unit from Tosi for my 16 valve as it was missing from the bike when I bought it. Tosi is very knowledgeable and I have had no problems with the unit in the last 12 months or so plus he has provided sound technical advice when I have had other ABS related problems. The units are not cheap, but as you are having it repaired not buying from scratch it should not be so bad. I cannot remember the postage but I did stung by customs. Probably the most expensive replacement part I have bought to date. If one came up on Ebay for £50 I would have bought it and this is I suppose your other option.

Hope you get it sorted.
Cheers
Dave
