Thanks mate, you should have seen the poor thing last December when I needed to collect it in a trailer. Still some cosmetics to do but everything mechanical is now as sweet as can be.

Very nice job.

Keep the dust off it because I am planning to come to inspect the renovation.

Glad someone likes it Rick, I hate the thing. It is a very old Corbin that was on the bike when I bought it. If I find a second hand normal seat then I will change it.
Many mechanical bits have been sorted now, but the cosmetics still need work, you may not believe that my favourite colour for an RS is white!
New bits done to the bike are as follows:
LEDs in the instruments, rear lights and rear indicators. BMW removed and indicator relay modified.
Relays fitted for the headlight, but I am designing a HID projector light to replace the BMW one.
RAM rear shock fitted - absolutely fantastic difference.
Cheap ebay adjustable steering damper adapted to replace the original.
Set of Michelin pilot road 3s fitted.
I am waiting to get hold of a rear light to modify so that I can have a complete modern LED display for the rear end.

CF I have sent you a PM.

Great job. Is it a John Player Special or did you do the colour scheme. I have seen a John Player in an R series but not a K. Many years ago maybe I am confused. Looks great though.

It was not meant to be a JPS colour scheme, I just thought that gold would go with black.
The nephew of my wife works for Lotus F1 as a designer and I thought that I could get onto them for some Carbon Fibre parts and even some titanium fasteners as it is the correct colour. Won't hold my breath though!
The paintwork is very poor and parts that were a complete mess have been sprayed gloss black as a temporary measure. Come next winter I might respray all the paintwork back to the original BMW 162 colour, but I need to learn a bit more about spray painting first. Not sure how to paint things like the side panels which are bendy.

You need to get a flexible plastic nozzle for the spray gun. lol!

They havent been a prbolem for me using acrylic paint but make sure you dont use a two stage acrylic without the correct prep coats as you will have big cracks opening up on the fibreglass parts as the paint ages.
I did my wifes K75 about 4 years ago and it mow has a spiderweb of cracks on the fairing parts. I will need to take all the paint off and start from scratch.

Love to see pictures of any K!

I have done a write up of some of the LED install on my bike, but put it on my blog at http://bmwk100rs.wordpress.com/ if anyone is interested.

Be interesting to see it.  A friend here had a K100RT JPS. He wasn't interested in the history etc. just rode it into the ground and sold it to a wrecker in Brisvegas fo near nothing and now he is doing the same with an R1100RT.
