Hi!

I own an 85 k100rt and I live in Charleston, SC. This is my first motorcycle so I don't know much about bikes or where to get service in SC so I hope to learn all I can from this wonderful forum.

Thanks!

Welcome K-chirp
I have a mate who just went travelling down your way and tells me it's a great area.
Mine is an 85 RT as well, and once you read all the good stuff here you won't need to find a local serviceman, you'll be it.
Have fun
RT

Hi there K-chirp welcome to the forum.
Check out the portal page and read the "youjust bought a K100 so what now" page, it gives you a good starting point for a new K owner. If you fix cars then you can easily work on a K.
From an experienced rider it would be wise to do an advanced rider training course before you develop bad habits that can come back to bite you. It is absolutely amazing what you learn about riding and bikes in general.

If you Google "full control" you will find a book that written in Norway and is the best reference book to read about motorcycles and motorcycle safety that is going, its well worth the read.

Sound advice.....I just took it for granted since I got my first motorbike in 1972.......the thing about a motorcycle is you must always anticipate what the other guy is going to do. Advanced training and also reading up on it is extremely useful. The K is a great bike but it can bite.....it can lull you into a sense of security and it also begs to be let loose too and that's when you need all the expertise you have..
