I have bought my BMW K100RT 1983. This weekend at my garage i hope, the earliest K100-bike i could find, pictures will follow soon.

Welcome to the site david - I have a 1984 K100RT.  I believe that 1983 was the first year of production for the K100.  Others more knowledgeable than me will soon correct me if I'm wrong Wink

Quite correct but the RT version didnt hit the market till 1984 AFAIK

The K100RT is listed as from 10/83 in Europe but not for US until 04/84.

The K100 Basic is listed 05/82 but only for 19 models.

My own RT is listed as 08/84 but the colour is listed as a 1995 1985 colour. All confusing. The frame number was also changed at the factory and when I check the crossed out one its an RS rather than an RT number. Both numbers are 08/84.

Mine is October/1983 by VIN. For next MOT in May/2014 I have a possibility to register as oldtimer, which means much lower costs (for times cheeper than for regular bike), but there is obligatory 5000 kms per year, not more.

You will just have to buy another one?!!!!

Welcome David !
Nice Brick you've got there.
Living  in Belgium (and Nederland) I use a rain suit on top of the leather one, and stay dry and warm) always.
Only draw back :  It takes like for ever to dress/undress, and my panniers are full with my "civil" clothing, or bike suits, and boots.
