The clock on my bike runs about five (5) minutes slow every day.

Any ideas on how to fix this?  scratch

Thanks in advance.

Hi AJ,
My first thought was an intermittent connection somewhere, but I've just looked at a clock and there is an adjuster on the printed circuit board.
However I don't know what it adjusts..........does anybody know?

Although, if the clock used to be accurate, I would still think it's more likely to be an intermittent contact.

Paul.

thanks for the pic paul

that pot ...is actually a variable capacitor ...probably some where between 5- 20 pf

the capacitor loads down the crystal nearby ....by adjusting it ...it certainly would make a difference by  a few percentage points

those capacitors use an air gap type principal ....and I would think in certain conditions ...could absorb some grime ...changing its natural range and loading

hope that helps

Aj,
Contemplating your clock slow running problem (in my tent at the weekend), I'd be inclined to have a look at the connection between the printed circuit strip and the pins that feed volts to the clock, they're riveted connections that can become intermittent.

Also, you could remove the clock from the cluster and feed 12v directly to the input sockets to see if it looses time. That would isolate the fault to either the clock or the wiring.

Good luck,
Paul.

OK, thanks all.

It's going to be a winter project (here in N.America), so I'll update this thread sometime in the next several  months.
