I have a large gap between my seat and tank on my Ex Police K100LT. The seat has a metal base. Is this a normal 'sign' of wear or has someone larger than large been sitting on it?

As it is the metal base, is it acceptable to bend it back into shape? Or is it new seat time?

The seat is comfortable, it is just the way it looks I dont like.

a picture might help .... we have no way of knowing if what you call big is normal or not  ...

there is some gap between the tank and seat in any case ...usually with a rubber cushion at the back of the tank
there is some slight adjustment fore aft at the hinges mounting on the ducktail mounts

is the tank located properly at the rear pin rubber cusions ?

there may be a way to eliminate the sag of the seat with rubbers under the seat to mate to the frame better

Is your tank properly popped into its poppy things at the back? The tank looks suspect to me, not the seat..

Seems to be located properly.

there should be a fair bit of back pressure when refitting the tank to the locating rubbers under the tank on those two 1 cm or so pin locators (the rubbers are often found to be cut up and let the tank move around a little )

 if not, could it be that the suspension rubbers at the front of the tank are letting it creep forward ?

you can lift the tank a little without disconnecting things ....but if your trying to get to those front rubbers its hose off time ...unless they have been extended .

but take a pic of under the seat   and the frame where the seat hits could give you a clue if the seat is bent to a degree ?

mine is a plastic base version so mooves-lifts  a bit at the tank  ...(when sat on) at the front like yours .

my new seat is the same, I might put the sheep back on. 
 

The vinyl does pull them back a bit over time but the cover on yours is wrinkled which makes me think the pan is bent back a bit. You could try to bend it forward but don't be surprised if it returns to that position because the vinyl gets stretched a lot when you sit on it.

The tank is firmly located on it's spigots at the rear and the locating rubbers at the front.

That seat base does not look factory to me and it had very definitely been recovered.

To get a seat better positioned with respect to left/right & forward/back: (common issue with Corbin seats)

Slightly loosen all of the HW mounting bolts on the bottom of the seat and the rear hinge bar.  Then move the seat around to best position you can  get it and then tighten the hardware.

No, no, no. A gap is good. I just looked on my bike and the gap is about the same. Perhaps you may need slight adjustment, but that is all.

My bike came with a Corbin double seat, and from the looks of it (crushed rubber bumpers on the bottom) it was ridden 2-up quite a lot. Result is, almost no gap in front or at the rear resulting in wear marks on the tank and tail section.   

When I put my new seat on it appears odd at first because it stood-up much taller. However, this is normal as it will wear-in over time (the gap will close). Trick is to recondition the seat before it begins wearing on the paint.
