Hello ,

I'm about to fire up my 85 K100RS after two years of restoration.

But the bike wont start because there is no green neutral light at the display.

I rebuilt the gear indicator switch a while ago and remember it working.
Can a bad bulb prevent the engine from starting?

Is there a way to bypass the switch?

Thank you!!!

OK, I did some reading and it seems I can ground all three yellow wires of the Gear position switch and the neutral light should come on?!

Is right?

Pull the clutch lever in it will override the GPI and neutral light.

Thanks for your help.

I pulled the clutch and pressed the starter and nothing happened.

Maybe I have other issues?!
Does the Fuel pump comes on when the ignition is turned on, because I did not hear anything.

The fuel pump will run for 1.5 seconds after you hit the starter but will not run when you turn the ignition on.
The engine needs to be running before the pump will keep running.

I got the bike fired up today for the first time in two years.
It sure sounded good.

It looks like the clutch switch does not make solid contact with the clutchlever and that caused the non start issue.

At least we learned more about the gear position switch...

Thanks to everyone's help!

Hi Marten ! And finally, fixing your non-starting-problem, related to the neutral-light: check this one ?

https://www.k100-forum.com/t484-neutral-lamp#2168

I followed the instructions as above and now: have a working neutral-light and don't have to pull my clutch to start the bike ! cheers
