Just a quick question, how do I remove the tail shaft half from the final drive on a K1100 ?
Thanks in advance from an old crock in Gladstone SA

It's secured with a small circlip (similar one in the front end, as on the 2V's)
a sharp snatch away from the FD is what's needed.

Thats what I thought, but I have bent 2   600mm tyre levers trying to prise it off, it is flipping tight,

Thanks for your input

If the circlip is to much out of center you can pull untill your head turn blue,
and the circlip then can become deformed and make it more difficult.

If you meet to much resistance, stop....move the joint a bit forth and back
along the pinion shaft, while holding the FD with the shaft pointing straight
up....also a few gentle knocks often helps.......all this to bring the circlip as
close to center as possible....it can be several attemps before succes.

A impact chock usually function better than brute force to bring the circlip to
center and expand it......I'm using a slide hammer whenever it's possible on
shafts which is secured like this.

Found the problem, once the shaft was removed the front edge of the circlip groove on the pinion was a 90 degree angle where it should have been a nice slope, the circlip was pushing against a vertical step, the dremel fixed that problem.
I am actually using a K1100 pinion in a K100 final drive with a K1100 tail shaft with a spacer between the F/D & the swing arm
the bottom uni will be doing stuff all work.
Thanks for all who answered.
