CI Hi All, looking for some information about a Cam chain, which I bought from ebay, it's a new part BMW OE, but it has 1 copper link but only on one side. Q: is it right to have any copper links??

Creoso i forum.  I mean welcome to the forum. You are not so far from us over here and a trip to Wales is on our wish list......

However I cant answer the question about the cam chain but someone will. Everyone is very helpful and lots of good information and technical knowledge so don't be afraid to ask any questions. I will be watching the answer as my timing chain is due a look at next month.

Can't speak Welsh, but I did understand that, thanks for the reply, haven't finished changing this chain replacement, but doesn't seem too difficult a job, just hope I can put back the ignition timing unit back correctly.

Crazy Frog looks after the forum, technical side and everything, its brilliant. You find this on the 'Portal' tab 'Downloads and Shares'

The downloads have all information you could need, worth getting because this is done from the point of view of working on a used bike where most manuals are made up dismantling brand new bits that are easy to take apart. If I have this wrong someone will correct me.

The download page is password protected and only accessible to registered members.
Please DO NOT INCLUDE ANY LINK to this page into a post on the forum.

Hi Neil,

Welcome to the K100 Forum. I consider it the source of K knowledge on the planet!

If you are also a fully paid up member of the BMW Club UK, then in their tool hire facility they have the correct BMW tools for setting the timing (and much more).

I have found out it's not a copper link but copper only in colour,
According to my local BMW dealer, and also checks out to be magnetic.
Happy days!! I'll crack on and finish.

When you are done and sorted keep an eye on our activities here.

We are only a hop across from Fishguard or Pembroke to Rosslare. Our meet up on 1st August already has one K booked on the afternoon ferry from Fishguard....Born Again Eccentric [BAE]. If camping is to your liking and you have a few days you are most welcome to come over. We also have a K meet up on Saturday 8th August and BAE will still be here for that, travelling back from Rosslare 9am Sunday morning.

neil I have seen on at least one occasion one side cooper looking link on the timing chain

but sounds quite normal to me
