I noticed a few rides ago that my odometer was not working. I still had speed and rev just no odometer. Just fro a few notes I have seen it may be a stripped gear?
The bike is an 88 model with 12000km it is in good condition but has been sitting a long time, there was a corroded hole in the tank.
any suggestions would be welcomed before I attempt to dismantle the gauges.

I haven't had to replace gears, but have dismantled gauges from casing. Happy to help if wanted.

The gears are quite easy to replace. If it is the stubby small gear that has died, you can get it as part of a package with other gears for about $9 from Jaycar. Otherwise they can cost about $25 each plus postage.Usually if one gear has gone the others are not too far behind.

Thanks for the info I was hoping for a simple problem. I pulled the speedo/tacho unit off and disassembled, the gears in the odometer were striped ainsjac you said the gears could be bourt from jaycar can you give me more info on that? what should I be asking for? what does it go in?

Look for Gear Set....yg-2630. Take your smallest gear with only one set of teeth on it and there is a replacement in that set. The rest of the gears in the packet are of no use. It is just cheaper for that one gear and the rest you will need to get elsewhere. Good luck. There are references to places to buy them on the forum, just type in Speedo gears or odo gears.
