Greetings,

My ignition switch "works" technically, but you can turn it with a screwdriver, so its essentially pointless.  I'm also replacing the entire front end w/ a GSXR front end and new triple tree.

Obviously OEM ignition switches aren't available, and I don't mind using an aftermarket switch (I was going to relocate it to the side of the bike anyway)....... but my switch has 5 wires.... and the only aftermarket switches I can find are 4-wire.

Does anyone know what those 5 wires are?

What aftermarket ignition cylinders are there that will work?

Rather than fighting with the 2 security screws on the top of the triple tree, I'd just assume cut the wires.... trash the triple tree (and the old ignition switch).. replace the ignition switch cylinder to an aftermarket one, and then just mount it on the side of the bike.

Need help picking a suitable new ignition switch please.

There should only be 4 wires to the ignition switch.
Red > Power
Grey > Running lights
Green > Ignition
Grey/Black > Headlight

Wiring can be different for different models. Helps to post your model and year.

Thanks for your help folks.  I ended up finding the info in another forum.

My bike is a 1990 K100..... but I purchased an original ignition cylinder from an older K100.

My wiring = 5 wires
Older K100 = 4 wires.

I ended up not utilizing the purple wire (radio)... everything else matched up perfectly
