Does anyone know if a 1987 K100RS was equipped with a solid-state voltage regulator or a mechanical one?

Rob, do you have any idea why there are several versions of that voltage regulator? Physically, they are identical, but they have different numbers for different vehicles. Seems to me that increasing field current to maintain rated output at different loads should be the same across the range of alternators.
Also, if the regulators are different, do you have any idea why the part number for a Volvo sedan is one third the cost of one for a BMW motorcycle? I suspect that the BMW nameplate may have some influence on the price, but three times?
