Hello everyone
When I was 16 I had a picture of a k100 on my bedroom wall and obsessed over it. Now at 55 I've finally bought one. It's not on the road yet as I'm waiting for a starter relay. It's a 1989 bike with only 20 k on the clock and in very good condition. I have heard her start and run so I know there are no other problems that perhaps some injector cleaner won't put right. I'm more familiar with boxers as I'm in my 4th one all be it a bit more modern!
I'm looking forward to riding her and hope she's everything my 16 year old mind hopes she will be.
Cheers James

In 1986, a few months after I got my MC endorsement I got a flyer in the mail from BMW that offered a free pair of cheapo BMW sunglasses if you came in and test rode the new K75S. Of course my first reaction was "I didn't know BMW made motorcycles." Smile

I had some free time on Saturday so took a drive over to Buckingham BMW in Seattle to get my freebie sunglasses. I took their red K75S demo out for about a 30 minute ride and instantly fell in love. I was just out of grad school so dropping $10K on a motorcycle was not an option.

However, between that test ride and watching the TV show "Then Came Bronson" as a kid, the #2 item on my bucket list from then on was riding a red K75S along the California coast. (#1 was scuba diving in Truk Lagoon)

In 1996 I was working in San Francisco and started perusing local ads for a red K75S. It took a few weeks but I eventually found a cherry 91. I rode it around The Bay Area for a few weeks, down to LA and then up the coast. Even though I was still very much a noob rider it was a great ride.

All downhill with K-Pox since then.

Wrong on all counts.

There is a temporary cure. Buy another K.
There is a longer term cure: Buy two at the one time.

As you can see from my signature, mine is well under control. you just need a good management strategy.

Actually I was staying with some friends up your way in August. The lady of the house has a bad case of it. 3 of them in the garage. Got infected at 18!.

Thanks for the welcome messages. It seems I may have bought some trouble. Fitted the new starter relay yesterday and started her myself for the first time and it's not good. Water in the oil and low compression on 1 and 2 cylinder!! Can anyone advise me on this. Can the injector seals deteriorate and cause loss of compression? And can water get into the oil at the pump. The general vibe I'm getting is these head gaskets never fail so it's wise to look elsewhere before taking head off? Only 20750 genuine miles on her. In the last 7 years only 4 miles were put on her in 2022 which is a bit suspicious to me. Any way I'll have a look at the injector seals first then take it from there. I think my introduction 'never meet your heroes' may have been a bad omen!!!
Cheers James

This is the Member Introduction section, James, not Patient Intake. Laughing  Delete that post and re-post it the general Troubleshooting section along with an accurate description of what you've done to the Brick so far—oil or coolant changes, spark plug replacement, distance ridden since you've owned it, distance recorded on the odometer, etc. and a description of how you tested compression.

The triage team could be at brunch right now but the members' phones will undoubtedly be pinged.
