Hello friends,

Thanks to all who have posted technical tips to the forums. Your experience has been very helpful to me while starting restoration of an 85 K100RT barn find.

The bike had been sitting for six years with enough fuel in the tank to melt the fuel pump damper. The fuel pump still works OK, but the injectors are not firing. I plan to test the electrical this week and if good, replace or clean the injectors.

Welcome to the forum Scott. Aren't barn finds interesting you just don't quite know what to expect.
How about you start a thread on the restoration so we can all share.

So far I've been blessed! The fuel pump is working fine. Glad I didn't power it up with the old fuel.

Update: The old fuel didn't smell or look good.

Greetings from Michigan Img_0512

Much better after flushing with some fresh 91 octane. Very Happy

Greetings from Michigan Img_0513

Now searching for new injectors. Anybody try the 4-hole spray pattern Bosch injectors as an upgrade?

Greetings from Michigan Img_0515

FYI - The high pressure fuel from the pump goes in the front fitting and out the rear (left to right in picture).

BTW - The fuel will not flow through the pressure regulator in the wrong direction. Tried it while flushing the lines. Oops. Only got a little wet. However, it got me thinking...

SAFETY REMINDER: Always work in a well-ventilated area with no open sources of flame or sparks when working with fuel. :pale:

Humm, You get flow and not pressure from the pump...
.
Try to block the hose coming out of the tank. The pressure should be around 65 PSI and you should not be able to block it. If you do, it may may be as a result of a stocked relieve valve on the fuel pump(#1 on the following schematic).
