...overheard from Thomas, age 7, speaking with bigger brother Peter about their first ride on Dad's k100rs the previous night.

"...yeah...and when he winds up the motor, it feels good on your butt..." Dadnth10

And yes, with this youngster on board, it's been all really easy and tame around-town sort of driving. Smile

That really is a nice looking bike. I have to say I quite like the look without the lower fairing piece. Certainly looks better than on my K100RT....though looks come second after practicality in regards to the sidecar mounts for mine.

Sean.

I agree. Very fine looking machine. The only 'age' I can see is in the BMW tank logo. The white is not as white as it used to be. Very nice bike indeed.

He's obviously a very discerning young man! Mine feels good on my butt too, whether I wind up the motor or not!

Yeah, I thought I was going to want to replace the lowers/cowl when I got it, but after riding and looking at it, I might not worry about that for awhile. I rather like the "athletic" look with more of the motor showing, and I still get a little wind protection up top. The latter was really helpful coming back from Pendleton on the weekend--really took the "edge" off a windy day. Wink

I don't know if the lowers would help or hinder with heat management. Thoughts?

And it's really more "age" than miles...the bike only has 37K on the clock. Very Happy

durring winter months ...having the lowers on would help ....really depends on the climate you have ...durring summer the lowers off is ideal and makes things easy for service work till its up to scratch and really reliable .

old rubber is a curse ...

Good to know--it *does* get pretty cold here in Idaho, but the precipitation is low so some years you can actually still ride year-round. Knowing this gives me a little time to work on acquiring those parts.

Love your sig....that was me all the way back home on Saturday. Very Happy
