Looks like a great forum to be a part of. I ride a 2001 1150gs and my wife rides a 2008 f650gs. I purchased the K100rs from a niegbor who says that his wife knocked it over with the riding mower. He took it apart 3-4 years ago and it sat in his garage since. I put some fogging oil in the cylinders and turned it over and it fired on the oil. Maybe in luck and all I need to do is body work, cracks and scratches etc. This bike looks like it would be a great ride! Very Happy

Will do The tank is off and rinsed out -haven't looked for the filter yet but I will now, good point. Took off some handlebar risers (I guess a previous owner was vertically challenged), they were stressing a brake line.

re fuel filter, Canadian Tire, 4.6 liter 1996 Mustang filter will work fine... cheap too.

We get as much pleasure out of working on and sorting these bikes and everyone is so helpful.

Got too much for us over here in the Emerald Isle so we had to meet......that was great too.

The fuel lines from the tank to the injector rail can perish and spray fuel where you dont want it. This may not be readily apparent but its dangerous. I would certainly change those lines, but use original BMW line, its not expensive. They sold me a pack which I cut to length but longer so that I can now raise the petrol tank and access the relays/electrical box without having to disconnect the fuel lines. I do still have to disconnect the 4 wires to the fuel pump/fuel level but these are a push fit. However I also altered the earth location to make lifting the tank easy. No tools neded to raise the tank now!

I may be wrong about the fuel filter but I think that 4.6 litre engine is also used in Range Rover and Rover 75 so its possible those fuel filters may also fit. I fitted a neat in line one to my sons Honda last weekend which might also do the trick.

Hello mate, welcome aboard.

K's are great bikes and good solid engineering that you can fix and once fixed tends to stay that way. There are plenty of parts about, within the group and from specialist breakers (or even new Shocked).

You shouldn't have any trouble getting the old girl back on the road. Very Happy

These are our daily riders. Well at least up till last thursday. We now have about 6 inches of snow and the temp is headed for -17c tonight. I guess we have to head south.

Brrrrrr -17c out record min here is -11c and thats cold enough for me. I reckon I'd be heading South, well North for me but all the same I'd be heading there.
When you first posted I checked out where North Bay was and thought it's only a bay in the summer and frozen solid the rest of the time. I don't think I could handle not being able to ride for only 6 - 7 months of a year, I'd go loopy (comments from the peanut gallery are not required). Maybe a snowmobile would serve the purpose.

43 degrees here today. I think I would prefer it a little cooler than that thank you.

So hot and humid that I borrowed the wifes car with aircon....to visit Rossco.

Hi Sherpaguy,
Great to have you with us. Put a post with the pictures of your project in the "Your own renovation" section so everyone interested in that can jump to it rather than missing progress to date because it is in the New Members introduction section.
Regards,
