My latest - please don't ask, its a long and tedious story - "pride and joy" should soon be arriving here. A 1989 K100LT in reasonably good condition but in need of some cosmetic tidying and mechanical overhaul : nothing really drastic but enough there to keep me occupied for a while as a winter project.

I'm not the world's best at mechanical or DIY issues Embarassed but I'm fortunate to be able to call upon friends who are Shocked. I make the tea/coffee and offer helpful (?) advice throughout while they get their hands dirty Twisted Evil

Thanks to everyone involved here for their help, knowledge and enthusiasm provided. I'm sure I'll be calling in regularly Very Happy

Welcome along Chris, I'm sure you will enjoy your time here,
A very friendly group to join.
My mechanical knowledge is about the same, but fortunately the K is a reasonably reliable machine , and makes for seldom issues.

You have a fine specimen on board there, congrats.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I've spent a lot of time browsing/lurking and now that I've taken the plunge it should be quite a journey.

The bike hasn't arrived yet but my credit card has already gone into meltdown in anticipation of "Der Tag". Accessories, spares, service kits, the "just-in-case" items for the refurbishment project (*) and, I'm ashamed to say, a brand new Rukka Athos jacket (c/o Louis Moto DE - have you seen the UK prices affraid ) as for some reason my old gear doesn't seem to fit me anymore. Perhaps they've shrunk 🐷 ?

Anyway, thanks once more, especially to those who provide so much helpful and practical information. Its very much appreciated.

(*) I'll try to keep a running record and post as and when

Hi Chris,
You have made the same basic mistake most of us have, we went and bought one of thos pesky wardrobes that shrinks all of our clothes a bit every day and before you know it they don't fit us any more Smile
Great to have you with us.

Nice looking bike, radio-equipped too. Not sure if that model year had front fork reflectors, but they can easily be added. Exclamation
