Hi, I'm new the the forum and happy to now own an 87 K100 RT. I bought the bike with 25k on it and have since put on another thousand. I just had to pull out the throttle cable since it ceased on me and I'm now having to replace the center stand. It looks like I might have to pull the exhaust to get the left side bolt out. Anybody run into this? I have more plans for the bike down the road and I'm excited to be a part of the community.

that's a low mileage bike you have there, nice buy.
I haven't had my centre stand off this bike so can't help, although I was under the impression that the 4 attaching bolts were
easily accessible from underneath.
Don't forget to check all the hoses and connections, it's still an old machine.

Easier than messing with the exhaust...the bolts is secured with loctite,
some heat could be needed.

Hi Albomoto welcome to the forum.
I have to agree with the others about taking the 4 bolts that secure the whole stand mechanism. You will need to secure the bike upright so as to do it as the side stand also comes with the rest.
If you go to the portal page and have a read of the "you just bought a k100 so what now" page you will get some good info for new owners.

Thanks all for the info! I've been seeing some owners replacing the center stand with k1100 stands because they're more strong and durable. I think I'm gonna look that direction.

Oh, and I'll be sure to post pics. I've been thinking of repainting the bike a bright metallic green and black. Kinda like the new Mustang Boss 302s. I think it would look sharp.

I've found some old, cracked rubber that I can easily replace. The breather hose for one. I was going to also look at replacing the air filter but the top portion of the airbox has a wire going to it for a sensor, maybe mass air flow. The manual doesn't mention how to disconnect  it and the filter is stuck in pretty good from sitting in there all these years. The collector tube isn't liking to free itself either. I think I'll leave it until it becomes a problem. 
  I also had to change out a spark plug and did so with an Autolite plug. The local parts store didn't have any Bosch plugs. I've replaced the cream seat with a Corbin seat, more form fitting and looks a lot better. I also had to pull the throttle cable because it started sticking. The cable had to be ordered from the dealer.
