I am in the middle of a RS to LT handlebar switch. On my new dash pad, I now have 4 switch locations instead of the 3 that I had on my RS pad, and I have a new powerlet socket hole.

I am going to wire in a powerlet to the new dash pad and thought since I have an additional switch location, it would be a great opportunity to add a switch for the new powerlet (I am planning to use the non switched hot terminal in the anti-theft connector). I have been looking online for a couple weeks now and haven't had a whole lot of luck finding a new switch, what are my options for the physical switch? I already have the hazard, ABS, and heated grip switches in the dash pad so I want something with either a different "icon" or even no "icon".

Has anybody used something like this, and if so, what tile did you use/where did you get the tile?

Also, can anybody help with the correct powerlet socket to fit in my dash pad hole, and not interfere with anything behind it? Do I need to use an elbow socket like this:

I have used this switch a few times.

1. On my K1100RS to replace the ABS switch and give it a dual function.

This switch in one position is a standard on/off switch,  in the other position only on when pressed. So ABS reset as before and also a FAN on switch. I used the original ABS tile.

2. On my K100RS I used one of these as a standard on/off switch for the power to my GPS. For the tile I printed out GPS on a Black Background on a Brother Label printer.

There are 10 different switch inserts with 11 part numbers:

Fog/Tail Lamp
Heated grips
Blue (no graphics)
Orange (no graphics)
Cop lights
Horn (trumpet)
Blank black
Hazard
ABS
Windscreen (green)

Some of the early original hazard switch had a filament bulb behind them but those didn't last too long.

But you can backlight the translucent ones with 3mm LEDs to make them easier to find at night:

Any input on the correct powerlet socket?

I usually tap the dash Powerlet socket into the factory one under the seat (which is unswitched.)

Rationale: 

1) Keeps them on the same fuse.

2) I like them unswitched as it makes plugging my tender in easy.

3) I usually run my dash Powerlet into an electrified tank bag where I charge my electrical gear and like to be able to do that when the bike is parked. If I don't want to risk draining the battery then I just pull the Powerlet plug.

I was planning on having the powerlet on the switch to more easily turn on/off heated gear rather than plugging in and pulling the plug out while riding.

I am more looking for input on which powerlet socket would best fit on the dash pad. I don't know if the socket with the immediate elbow is required or if you can fit one of the more standard straight socket in without interfering with anything behind it. There seem to be dozens of choices for sockets on the powerlet website.

I have always used the straight one with 2 x 6mm spade connectors
Have you considered a Pulse width modulator (PWM) to control the heat they work very well and are really cheap on fleabay, around $6.

What heated gear a re you buying that doesn't have its own control unit?

Firstgear sells a heat controller for their heated gear separately but I dont want to buy that if I don't have to. I also don't want to deal with mounting a hear controller or other PWM controller.
