It's time for a new projeKt. 
In light of the recent incident with Ol' Blue , the Kart and a TIN LID driver, we are currently sitting on the sideline consoling ourselves with injuries , write-offs , insurers and lawyers.
During this downtime , we are putting pen to paper and designing a new way of enjoying our K'. The Kreative thoughts are flowing and helping in the healing process . 

I had been proposing a naked trim down for a while , due to the ageing of the fairing and heat effect during riding.
The thoughts of further 2 up riding has been discussed , and may be reduced to solo , for safety reasons .

Always be alert , the driver saw us , but misjudged our speed .

The Kart has served its purpose , but has now seen its last day . There is no thoughts of continuing with a new Kart at this stage .

We have salvaged most of our equipment from the accident .

Ol' Blue has been recognised as a non repairable writeoff, with damage to the drive line , exhaust , head bearing , foot plates , LH engine sidecover and possibly the gear selector. There may be a slight twist in the frame as well .

Fortunately the Kart absorbed most of the impact , leaving Ol' Blue relatively in one piece, or at least salvageable.

I've been toying with some ideas for a while now , it is possible the current state of affairs will have a major bearing on our thoughts.
This style is relatively easily achieved using the 2 K bikes in my stalls , so who knows .
Still early days yet , there are claims to be processed , injuries to mend , minds to set right . But at least there is a dream .

Here is one I saw at the K1 treffen in Germany last week - it does use a 16v engine but I hope it was not originally a k1 Crying or Very sad

That 'Treffen' attendee has possibly got a K12 motor in his K100, at least in parts 'n' pieces! Look at the plastic fuel injector rail, magnesium cam cover & radiator hose externally of the crank cover.

Feb 2013 my LT took a rear end hit. Just been over to have a look. She came home about 2 hours after, in a van, went into the shed and up on centre stand. Its been there since, has never moved. Looks exactly like Ol Blue which is what reminded me of it.

July 2013 I bought the K100RT and the plans to do much with the LT were shelved for a while........an indefinite while I might add. due to work reasons.

I might yet consider a replacement K for Blue whilst the projekt is in progress.
 THIS one looks alright for the money.

It should only be the frame that is not re-registerable. The engine and other mechanicals could go into another bike.

Yep, the yella beast is still here. A bit of interest has been shown but not enough. I agree, the mechanals can be transferrt4ed into another frame but the frame that has been deregistered ( written off) cannot be used again. Good thing your K enthusiasm has not waned. Cheers Tom

Given the frame and engine have taken a battering , I'd be concerned as to re registering either for the work needed. 
The rear wheel shows signs of pressure from the trailer impact . Given that the wheel freespins between 3-4 and 4-5 , I would say the drive is suffering some major damage , either to the FD or Splines. Knowing that the engine was in full motion and still running when laying down , is a definite in my thoughts .

I'm still pondering my options , Blue will remain off the road , but I'd like to utilise the bike with a sidecar as a promotional vehicle at rallies . Keeping the K alive ....! 

The styling would be in line with a Kafe for character. In doing so I would be removing as much unwanted weight , including the ABS , fluids, fairings etc . 
As the bike will be conveyed by trailer to events , the thoughts are to mount an electric motor with pressure to drive the rear wheel , making Blue the first ElectriK K bike.
The electric motor allows for forward and reverse movement on and off the trailer. Where possible retain as much of the lights and switching , but bypass the pump and starter.
The sidecar being non road registered would be a lot easier to design and mount to my own specs. No costly fitout by specialists.

In addition to Blue , I would most likely find another K for commuting , preferably naked and lightweight compared to the full LT , allowing for more airflow .

Further inspection today revealed that the throttle action on Blue is non functioning , the grip fails to return to its normal position . Maybe a broken cable.
The Dream continues.

True, can not be re registered in current form, though once its been to the Engineers its a new frame. So if all it needed, was the rear tail frame repaired and perhaps another tweak, all will be good.
My 84 rt frame is deregistered. I'd consider doing rubber mounts for the gearbox and alternator mounts and the frame would be good and could even be smooth and low vide to boot. That sort of thing of an option Ed. You just have to work out which way you want to go.

well done Tom , hope you managed to receive a fair price for all the work you put in since purchasing it .
I held temptation back and the dreadful K pox , as I need to keep a level head till Blue is resolved. 
When the time comes , I'll be searching out a set of RS bars or clip-ons ( RS is the preferred). something to provide the low profile in the front console .
My heated grips will be heading Gaz's way , to help him stay comfy on those long winter trips down south.
