Hi,

I live in South West England, own an '87 K75C that I've had for about 18 years and love the bike to bits.

Have a problem with it at the moment after pulling the gearbox for a spline lube and replacing the drive shaft with a new (thicker) BMW official item (the old one had worn splines). Didn't touch the clutch, job all went sweetly but now have a chronic vibration / buzzing come from the alternator / starter gears when pulling in all gears, but only between 2,000 and 3,200 rpm, after which the engine smooths out and is peachy smooth and quiet all the way to the red line.

I think I've exhausted the knowledge base on the Flying Brick forum, so please can anyone give me any ideas where to look next? I'm on the point of putting the old drive shaft back in and seeing if that cures it.

Thanks to all

Cured it .... it was the alternator mounted wrongly. The vans must have been touching, not separated by the thickness of the rubbers. Embarassed
