Following the success of our annual August gathering the suggestion has been made of heading Southwest for the next gathering. Dingle,

The Healy pass, the Connor pass, The Ring of Kerry etc. a fantastic offering of routes and rides not to mention genial hostelries aplenty!  Irish Eccentrics in "The Kingdom" 905546712

It would be an over nighter Irish Eccentrics in "The Kingdom" 340248 for me and some of the East coast contingent but all the sweeter for that!

Who is in,in principle? What dates might suit?

Sept and Early Oct are out for me due to Family and Work commitments.

I'm game, since I missed the annual gathering.

First and second weekends in Octiber aren't good for me,
but the third and last weekends are both free.

Hi all
Will, I think you'll have to rename the thread, Im not sensing the usual vibes of excitement of I can't wait for that, so maybe the run to the South Pole Inn, or the Endurance run to tie in with the occasion, it being about Tom Crean and his home town.
What do you think?

Pat

Still very interested - but, for me it might be a true winter run to the South Pole Inn i.e. Late October - early November.

Hi guys

As they say in game of thrones, winter is coming,
and quite a few of our friends are unable to make the trip this year, so it looks like a rain check on the run for the kingdom/ south pole inn for this year.
Don't worry it will have to be one of the trips for 2017 perhaps the trip. maybe a two night stay over to cover all the sights down there.

Pat

Hi Jerh
I'm afraid not. A decision was made to hold it over till 2017 as so many members were unable to make it.
I think it should be the main summer run for next year but will have to get 88 and Olaf to OK it first. At least one overnight if not two could be involved.

My 'red' is getting some workshop time in spring in preparation for some summer adventures. Its kind of adding miles.....new tyres on 21st October now have over 2,500 miles on them.....after 6 weeks. So time for some lubes etc etc.

Patricks weekend looks like a potential weekend out too.....

Most definitely will be down, in or about 8th September is my plan.

At the very least with 88 and maybe another one or two in tow.

Tent, firmly anchored and padlocked to the ground along with the lardons- bbq etc will be planted in St Leon sur Vezere....

Speaking of paddys they seem to have morphed.

Irish Eccentrics in "The Kingdom" Paddy10

I would love if more Eccentrics came, they would surely like it.

Will bring you some real whiskey.....none of that virtual s***e! It might be in some puddings. Speaking of puddings some are boiling away as I write this.

You don't need to bring any of that funny stuff that you guys call whiskey, they have that in Intermache in Montignac and every time that I see it I think of you guys and then buy some decent single malt from the country at the top of the UK.

Would be great to get a good bunch down here, we could paint Roque st Christope red!

For any Eccentrics or anyone else reading this you have to know that BobT and Jude are the most wonderful people you could ever meet on a K.

They are unusual too in that they caught a mutant and seemingly as contagious a disease clearly related to Kpox- Ducati-itis, pronounced Ducati eye tis, not Ducati titties. Jude happily rode a BMW with attitude and BobT bought her a Zorst as a birthday present. Even better is that it got used for its designed purpose. But then one day she took BobTs Ducati for a ride...........

BobT has some nice facilities there and when I took off the petrol tank to sort a fuel line leak I mentioned a problem getting the air box off. With some workshop help this was sorted. Then I asked Bob for some T cut which he struggled with. Mostly because when he asked why I needed it I said it was to polish the top of the engine while the air box was off. With about 35c outside, and we were outside, this got a good reaction........

They know the best watering holes, places to eat, nice roads, directed us to a campsite beside a river after we resisted their warmest invitation to stay with them, showed us some great back roads and hosted some great evenings. It was the first time I have eaten duck while there were ducks wandering around the table at our feet. The food cycle in action!

If anyone is on for this Roscoff or Cherbourg to St Leon sur Vezere is a 1 or 2 night run. In theory it's a one day but we don't do theories although I have many times done the equivalent in France in the car. 88 and myself did find some excellent camping points on the route but there are cheap hotels too. About 750 km and €11-12 toll each way. The camp site is about €6.50 for a pitch that will happily take 4 tents at €3.50 each and space for a tarp/gazebo.

So my thought is could we have an Eccentrics adventure abroad???? ........this thread started as a possible visit to the South Pole Inn, which holds memories of the great adventurer Tom Crean. It's not a coincidence that Will is more formally known as Will Crean and quite keen on adventure.......

As you know Will has been here more times than you Olaf, it must be time to try and beat his visit record.
Limeuil calls, coffee at the place opposite the little beach, you know the place, the one where the lady owner could be a model and all the young ladies that she employs could also be models. Moving on to an ice cream sitting on the beach of the Dordogne/Vezere rivers.

We could even have another BBQ at the camp site, but that Lardon tree is not growing yet and a BBQ might be a good time to plant another.

We now also have a friendly Pecharmant vineyard to visit that you have never seen. As you know, we keep that particular wine to ourselves and don't export it.

Looking forward to seeing all the Bricks parked outside my garage again.

I might beat Will's in some distant time but for now I am looking forward to the next time down. But at least mine were all on a K......not those aluminium tube thingies.

Lardon trees might grow ok there, suppose we will be seeing pigs fly.

Now if I remember when sitting at the lovely table the beach is literally across the road....

That is the place Olaf. The parking has changed a bit now, there is virtually no parking for cars at that area, and they have widened the pedestrian area so that more bikes can park.
We parked the Ducati's there once, they were lonely, but about 30 minutes later 20 very old bikes turned up and joined them. There was a rush of tourists with cameras taking pictures of the bikes.

That works well.

Krauser K2 panniers will hold a 42 litre kid.
