Hello everyone I have I believe an 1988 K100RS that runs great but am selling it for parts. I have no paperwork on the bike and it can’t be registered ( it would cost way too much) to keep it simple I’m selling it for parts first $500 takes it away. It can be ridden home if you buy it just has no plates but is operational. Everything works runs great but for parts thanks a lot email or text

It would be nice to have a picture or two of it.
Does anyone know the logistics and cost of shipping a bike from California to BC? Is it easy to bring an old bike to B.C.
Even if it could be shipped to Vancouver where I could pick it up from a friend.

I've done it and it wasn't a problem, but Patrick714 doesn't have paperwork and he says it's a non registerable bike. You might not be able to import it or maybe you can but can't register it. Easy enough to find out. That wasn't the situation I was dealing with. Call these people in the link below as it's who I used. Scroll down to the green box on the left hand side and click on motorcycle shipping in blue print. There you can key in your information and it'll give you a price. The branch of this shipping company that transports motorcycles is AA Motorcycle Shipping. They are very helpful and informative as they will step you through the process, including assigning a Canadian Broker for you.

https://www.uscanadaautotransport.com/

The motorcycle will be strapped to a pallet and arrive at your location (door to door or as close as they can get) still strapped to that same pallet. The bike is only handled by hand getting it onto the pallet for preparation in shipping and then getting it off the pallet at your place.

Other considerations are monies paid out for duty, tax, import fees and the brokerage fees to the firm that will clear it through customs for you.

Asking questions and informing yourself costs nothing and the fact that it's 1988 is not an issue.

Thank you for the pictures Patrick714.
Thank you for the shipping information RS Rider.
For curiosity and future reference I will see what are the rules for importing to B.C.
I did register a bike from Alberta that had never been registered before. It will be interesting to see what paperwork it takes to get a bike out of the US and in to BC.
From time to time there appear to be some good older K's for a reasonable price in the US, even after currency conversion.

To clarify further, I'm in Alberta and my bike was farther away than California. I did have to do an OPI (passed with flying colours and no issues) and pay for a permit to ride my bike to the OPI. This required proof of insurance otherwise the registry wouldn't have issued me a permit. It's not much money and was good for 1 week I believe. If you have the ability to transport the bike to/from the shop doing the OPI then the permit obviously isn't necessary nor is the insurance. I think you already know this stuff though.

Everything went smoothly for me with no hiccups.

I have imported many vehicles from the US and overseas in the past 20 years. I think you will have some trouble meeting both the US Export documentation requirements as well as the Canadian Import requirements with out some form of title signed over to you. These documents must be sent to the border crossing and approved before you or your shipper arrives there with the bike.
I am not sure about importing parts vehicles from the US but form overseas they can not be in a condition that can be re-assembled. Cutting them in half doesn't even meet this standard anymore.
It has been a couple of years since I brought a bike up from the US so rules change and you mileage may vary. I am sure any of the reputable motorcycle shippers will tell what is required right off.
