Hi all i have just purchased a 1985 k100 which has been standing for the last seven years in  a garage, i have a pretty good idea of what to do but if anyone has a check list it would be a great help, i suspect i should look to change all the hoses and the odd seal?? thanks Tim

Pull the spark plugs, spray in some fogging or other oil to pre-lube the cylinders and then hook up a battery and give it a whirl.

Of course make sure it has oil and coolant in it as well as some fresh gas but other than that it won't hurt anything to try starting it.

Do not be alarmed if it smokes for several minutes on the initial startup. That's normal for Ks that have sat for a while.

And if it doesn't start then get the fuel injectors serviced.  Over that much time the gas in them will dry out and turn to varnish so they will be clogged and stuck.

Guess it wont be idle much longer.

You will be busy, look at the portal page, what to do if you have just bought a K bike.

Important to let us know what year, model etc even better put your VIN, the last 7 digits on the frame number, in your signature as there are changes that will affect answers to questions or solving problems.

DONT go firing it up until you have cleaned out the tank and petrol etc, don't even be tempted to. Change all the engine fluids to start with before firing up.
