What's up everybody. My name's Drew and I'm in the process of building a custom kbike. The upgrades I've done so far include new cold air intake, new exhaust (Remus), larger injectors. I've bobbed the tail and powdercoated most of the bike. I tore the bike down to make sure everything was still in spec. MaxBmw is in my hometown so luckily it's a short trip and I have become a regular there.. I've spent an arm and a leg on oem parts for this bike from rebuilding the water pump to rebuilding the fuel pump and all associated gaskets to wheel bearings. I've updated the clutch push rod and alternator, and the list goes on. I fitted an Ohlins rear shock to the rear and have mounted 2008 gsxr 1000 front forks, fitting the gsxr forks and brakes to the bmw wheel took a ton of work.

Ill keep you guys updated with pics when I can.. I need to wire the bike, make rearsets and a tail section and it should be ready to rip.

Pics as soon as possible please Drew.  I admire folk who take the route less travelled; fitting those GSXR must have been very involved.  Your bike sounds interesting, and for sure when it is finished you will know every inch of it.

Welcome to the forum, Drew.  I'd be especially interested in seeing how you adapted the GSXR1000 forks to the K100 frame.  Did you draw inspiration from the other guy who did the same adaption to a K75?  A pictorial of how you accomplished this would be most helpful for others.

I'm un-educated about the clutch push rod.

rom what I remember here, the K75 pushrod has to come out from the front while the K100 push rod comes out from the back.

When my trans was out, I tried to give my clutch rod a gentle tug.....can't remember much about it really......
Is there an actual post on the details of how to service the push rod, the related seal(s) and the "release bearing"?

I had an old Moto-Guzzi once that had to come home on a tow truck because the "Torrington" style release bearing failed causing the debris from the bearing cage to jamb the clutch operation into the free wheeling position.

Any chance of a similar failure on the K100?   Do I need to get in there & check tis mechanism?
Regards, Ibj...

The GSXR swap was relatively painless however I had to machine adapters for the gsxr rotors to work with the bmw wheel, that was a little involved. I'm also in the process of cutting a new top tripple clamp because the one from the gsxr doesn't look right. Sorry for the slow reply, I've been swamped at work and any free time has been spent with a wrench in hand. It breaks my heart a little to see that another guy has done an inverted fork swap because I hadn't seen one yet. Either way he did a a nice job with his and when I figure how to load pictures from my phone, I hope you'll feel the same about mine.

As far as the clutch push rod goes, the k bike I have is a 1985 which had a seperate bearing and puck design they updated that I believe the year after to a integrated composite design and mine seemed to have issues so I bought the updated setup. You're right about removing the push rod from the rear of the k100.

Sounds great. I've been thinking of powder coating sometime in the distant future and would like to see how yours has turned out.

Was down to Max's last month, and it's truly a big shop. Poked my nose into the shop area, and simply could not at a glance count the number of bikes back there.

Looking forward to pics, and hope to see you out on the road. sunny

Am I the only one who isn't seeing any pictures of the bike posted in this particular thread? I've not changed any settings... just wondering.

Some of our international friends would remark about our vehicle inspection process here in New Hampshire.

Do the turn signals work? OK.
Does the brake light work? OK.
Gimie $20 and here's your inspection sticker! Shocked

We have to pay $75 for a roadworthy and it's about as good and there are even some people so deluded that they think that if a car or bike passes a saftey inspection it's safe to ride/drive:laugh:

Not to mention our license process that allows anyone to get a permit for answering a couple questions.

Then you would all love the French annual safety test for motorbikes - it does not exist! Cars every two years, but bikes not at all.
When I think about it microlights/ultralights don't have a safety test either.

What model did you use? I see there’s one for a k1100 so I assume that will bolt right on.

Mike not sure what you meant by what model used but if referring to exhaust I just put a full Remus on the K1100 and it went straight on. Very happy with fit and was easy considering it didn't come with instructions. Very nice sound.

I don't notice any change in running and wasn't looking for or expecting any. It was to replace the cracked BMW pipes.
