walfish wrote:Hi Guys, I've been kicking this around since it's beginning and finally bit and booked the Sunday, if the camping prices were a little more realistic i'd have done both days.(36 quid).
I'll ride up n back on Sunday.

Have a word with Frank Miles on the camping. Some of us are camping inside the track.

Looking like we have over 50Ks now in the mix so its looking good.

Nags Head now has a group booking and a menu which looks good at £24.95 in place so anyone looking at this needs to confirm. For time being I have said that the 6 Eccentrics [possibly 7/8] will  go for Nags Head to keep it all together. I know Paul/BAE is also in on this.

Link to the thread below and also the menu.

A request has been sent across the globe from the Krew of the Kfest in the UK .
It is suggested that in alignment to the Kfest weekend , that some of the Aussie krew gather together on the 12-13 May, possibly for Koffee
A special parcel will be provided to help celebrate this event with our kamerades.
Hope we can get a few together to help celebrate with them .

If it is on Sat 12 May, I can probably drop in on my travels towards Port Macquarie. That's assuming its somewhere in the Hunter region as so many gatherings are.  Smile

Yesterday I saw on the K Fest Fakebook page that Frank Mile was still searching for pictures for the event.
I got on the computer, and after few hours, I came up with this design (Motorbike Mike seems to like it... I wonder why!).
People reaction was quick and positive. Frank has already sent it to the printer to get few sample T-shirts.
This will be one other contribution from the forum to the K Fest.
Kudos on all the organizers. This is not an easy task and it requires a lot of efforts.

On the side note: Vista Print contacted me today and next Tuesday I will have a conference call with one of their representatives. The goal is to set a website where anybody can order and pay for his T-shirt.
If we come to an agreement, all the k bikes designs, the forum logo as well as the Donington T-shirt will be available for printing.
The reason why this didn't happen earlier, is that the sales rep that I was dealing with left the job.
Here is the K Fest T-shirt....

yes a good idea Matt
we better do something about that

I have a kfest (bsk speed works ) tshirt on the way from blighty , thanks to Frank Miles I think

was hoping to post a picture to the kfest page on the day ..  the organizers have asked - requested to see some of the aussie locals  celebrating as well.
I don't think we can get the southern crew together too  short notice , but the following weekend we will be heading out to nindy gully  so should be a few of the crew around then .

I'm hoping the hunter crew  Ed, Gaz , Tom , Ulrich and more may also get involved and post a group pic for this event , to post to the k fest facebook page  as well ??

even the Guyra connection , seani and craig and Phil  could perhaps collect a pic for sending to this event

not to mention the Gong crew Andrew , Waz  Bob rt , etc could get together for a pic
I may have to plan a trip up to Stanthorpe to get a pic with Rickg  the weekend before , as to include our mate in the event , rick can you park a couple of the ks close together for a pic ?

I'm hoping that the Brisbane bunch may get together at least once for this challenge
perhaps a north coast meet might be in order melaney or somewhere nearby , caloundra , somewhere like that ?

how about it Dave (Tackler ) , Blakey , John (black brick ) Martin  , Golly g , Pegasus  and anyone else local might chime in and we can get something sorted for up here , to me any representation of any kind of k bike is appreciated for this , so don't be scared any condition would be great to see a kollective of k bikes to send to the k fest brothers ..in support of their komeraderie

cheers

Comandoalicante,

It'll be great to meet up with you.
As for not speaking English...just say "una mas" and I'll help do the translation at the bar!

Don't know your travel plans, but if you need somewhere to break your journey in the UK, then I've got space and secure parking. I'm about 155 miles from Donnington (about 100 miles from Plymouth) and will be riding up sometime on Friday 11th May (opted for hotel comfort over camping)

I am very aggravated, for his offer, I think I'm at home

At first I really want to spend the night in a tent (I do not know if my bones will be burnt)

As for asking for more to help us with the translation, I think that if I do it and drink it more.

Of all forms frank tells me that it may be that if someone fails you can get a Bed and Breakfast (B & B)

I want to tell you that I am very excited to spend those days with people like you, also although I have a K 1! 00 LT I want to travel with my love, my little one, my K 75 S.

Komando,

You just have to install Google translate on your phone.
You can talk to the phone and it will verbally translate it for you.
Last year I was traveling in France with an English speaking friend not knowing anything else than "J'ai soif" in French, and he did very well with the translator.

Yes, I will, I will install that application

Although there are many words in English, I need to listen to speak English, to go slowly understanding English, because when I spent more than 2 days in Ireland at the end I began to understand.

With my English I am able to make myself understood, another very different thing, is that I understand a person speaking English

Charlie,

was that yesterday or next Saturday?
And whereabouts?
The K1100RS is off the road whilst the K1200RS rear wheel is being painted (I left the 1100 rear wheel at the paint shop so they could colour match from it).
Then a new set of tyres (which are pretty shagged after the Snowy Mtns trip).

cheers,

Andrew

we better do something about that

I'm hoping that the Brisbane bunch may get together at least once for this challenge
perhaps a north coast meet might be in order melaney or somewhere nearby , caloundra , somewhere like that ?

how about it Dave (Tackler ) , Blakey , John (black brick ) Martin  , Golly g , Pegasus  and anyone else local might chime in and we can get something sorted for up here , to me any representation of any kind of k bike is appreciated for this , so don't be scared any condition would be great to see a kollective of k bikes to send to the k fest brothers ..in support of their komeraderie

cheers
well the kfest event is getting closer
this (may 5th ) weekend a few of us are heading up to Stanthorpe  to see Rickg  and get a pic together in preparation for the Uk event

but I had proposed a meet up on the sunshine coast area on the actual day of the endurance legends - kfest  may 12th

I thought to get together some bbq stuff , snags, bread , drinks etc so we could meet up around the Maleny area

I'm still going ahead with this idea , john (blackbrick ) was showing sings of commitment  along with Mathew

so as this event is getting closer , whos coming along ?

I'm thinking somewhere about 10.30 ish in maleny  for an early lunch sort of thing

does anyone have a good site they can suggest , with council type bbq at hand ? in maleny ?

  cheers guys

What time does your ferry get into Plymouth? As per previous email, if you want to break you journey 2 hours from Plymouth and ride up to Donnington together on the Friday 12th, then send me a PM. Spare bed and secure bike parking overnight available if you want it in Castle Cary, Somerset. If not, no worries, I'll see you up at KFest.

Don't know what time I'm setting out on 12th yet, but I've taken the day off work so probably will leave about 10:00 which would get me up there by about 14:00 (180 miles)...or could leave a little earlier and take a scenic diversion via Wales.

And we arrive Holyhead docking 10:30am.......probably about 11am out of there and planning to travel by way of Betys y Coed so there's a meeting place staring at us...

As it happens Will and myself for operational reasons have decided that the plan A of staying in Dublin on Thursday night might well be better replaced with a plan B of taking Thursday night ferry which arrives just after midnight and taking hotel near Conwy to meet the others on Friday morning at Betys y Coed.

I think we would be there for about 12 noon........good for a lunch stop.

I've been thinking about coming there: I have a few das off that week, no family charges so I'm in the mood for a good bike trip.
Yet I have to be at work monday 14 morning, 1200kms from Donington, and I booked nothing, no ferry, no hotel...
I'll try to change this job planning this week, but I'll probably fail.

And other destinations are teasing me: Swiss & Austrian Alps to the BMW Museum in Munich, or the North coast of Spain...
I'll choose at the last minute as always, according to the weather forecast probably. And probably will change my mind the second day of the trip for another unattended destination.

So what?
What a Face

Charlie,
I'm still interested in catching up, but work Friday night. I usually get home by 7.00 and need a few hours sleep, after driving to Coffs Harbour and back I'm usually a bit RS. I would be OK about lunch time.

I think there is BBQ's outside the Library in Maleny ????? I will check it out on Thursday when I go up there.

The problem with Maleny on the weekends is all the tourists (as you know). I usually go for a ride to Kenilworth or Imbil and have lunch at one of the Cafe's, it's a nice ride and not as many tourists.

John.

Chris that's sure still the plan. Be great to meet up.

Either way we are looking at ferry docking 10:30 [it was scheduled 10 but they got a new ferry and new timetable] and its a fairly fast exit, no more than 11am out of the ferry port. That leaves a nice leisurely A5 run up to Betys y Coed for noon. Will Crean and myself are looking at going over previous evening now but all travel arrangements stay unchanged and we are looking at all meeting up at Betys y Coed.

I have also mentioned this to Born Again Eccentric [Paul] who is a regular visitor to our shores and has invited Ricardo to meet up with him on his way up from Plymouth. Paul has day off work so if Ricardo's ferry time works that may be an option for them. I have Paul's mobile number in my phone to stay in touch. Paul became known as the Born Again Eccentric....you gotta be a Badass/Madass Eccentric!!

Holyhead to Betys y Coed           1 hour about 60 miles direct
Betys y Coed to Donington Park  3 hours about 130 miles depending on route.

Recommended - use the A5 from Holyhead and not the A55. The A55 is alright for a flat-out-blat but I prefer the A5 for a quiet run. You might need to duck if the Valley Hawks are active. It takes about thirty minutes to get off the island at around 50mph.

Better route by far: exit Anglesey via the Britannia Bridge and pick up the A487 for Caernafon. At the next big roundabout take the B4547 signposted Llanberis. After about 1.25Km, straight across the roundabout and onto the A4244. Stay on that road until the T-junction with the A4086. Turn left for Llanberis. Keep on that road over the top of the Llanberis Pass (if the sun's out, you'll thank me for the view Very Happy ). At the T-junction with the A498, turn left for Capel Curig and Betws-Y-Coed. Total time on this route: depends how you dawdle to look at the view. Allow an hour.

If you need to get to Betwys by noon on the dot, use the A55 to get off the island but don't miss the Llanberis Pass. The A5 through Bethesda and via the Nant Francon Pass is alright but is frequently covered with roadworks and doesn't have a straight section on it until you're through the Pass and alongside Llyn Ogwen.

Recommended - the cafe at the Gwydyr Hotel in Betws. Last time I was in there I couldn't finish my plate. I hope the quality and quantity is still the same!

That's the one in mind........you should be coming along too!

Your route suggestion is a good one. Llanberis/Capel Curig/Betys y Coed is one of my favourites...

Last time I did that I didn't actually reach my destination, I got taken over by sunshine and never left Wales....

I have travelled A55 a lot but prefer the A5 Shrewsbury option on a route to the Midlands and London.

Just doing a bit of map gazing to amuse myself and I see that maybe you Eccentrics & Co may be travelling past places like Tamworth and Melbourne on this K Fest trip.

Well those Krew members in these parts wouldn't be near Melbourne (but what about some of our Victorian K Forum members) but our version of Tamworth is a mere 3 hours away  ..........mmmmh

What time will you lot be around that area?

Cheers

As for not speaking English...just say "una mas" and I'll help do the translation at the bar!

Don't know your travel plans, but if you need somewhere to break your journey in the UK, then I've got space and secure parking. I'm about 155 miles from Donnington (about 100 miles from Plymouth) and will be riding up sometime on Friday 11th May (opted for hotel comfort over camping)
Excuse me.

I have not read your messages well until today.

Thank you very much for your offer of bed and parking, and I would gladly take it. But it's my first time in the UK and I want to visit London.

Mi Barco leaves Santander on May 9 at 9:15 p.m. and arrives in Plymouth on May 10 at 4:15 p.m.

My intention is to go to London and I will try to find a shelter there for the night of the 10th to the 11th that morning I will finish visiting London and around lunchtime I will go to Donington Park.

Frank ne has managed to sleep in a B & B I think at Hellen's house.

Well Paul that leaves you an option of a meet up at Betys y Coed......Gwydyr Hotel sounds good to me.

If you plan on something different a little earlier I fancy Bodnant Garden Laburnum Arch. I want to see it in bloom and Bodnant is on the Conwy River, between Betys y Coed and Conwy where Will and I are planning a stopover Thursday night.
