Hello all, I am doing a custom build, and want to switch to a smaller speedo. There are a lot of options out there, and prices vary quite a bit. Wondering if anyone has seen these guys? Seems like it has decent reviews, and quite a bit of functionality

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J5TVRZ8/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1TOO39TOFBL5E

For the price it seems like it might be worth trying...

That's a fairly decent gauge for the price. I get contacted by many members who are seeking my TGPI board and there are quite a few who have selected this gauge. It is nice that it has an integrated gear display and fuel gauge. These can be adapted to the K-bike.

I got one of those a few weeks ago and am having the hardest time wiring it in, I am able to get it to turn on but that's it. Does anyone have a good diagram to map out the connections? The ones that I've found on this forum so far and simply googling it have not worked.

Oh boy, the speedo of doom....

(A complete electronic hack (me) can get it to work full function btw. Did I mention I own an oscilloscope?)

Rather than throw information at you, let us know where you are at, or what you are stuck on.
Robmack's instructions are spot on viz. operating & programming.

In short, you might need to:

modify/clean up the tacho signal (easy & interesting)

adapt the speedometer signal if using the OE speed sensor (easy), although the speedo of doom does come with its own sender & magnets.

decode/encode the gear position signal

adapt the fuel level sender signal (if you have a fuel level sender on your bike)

modify the indicator signals (if you are using an aftermarket LED flasher relay)

Of course if you don't need all the functions, then you can ignore them. The EASIEST way (although I didn't do it myself) must be to use one of Robmack's units - he's done all the hard work on this one.

i went the easiest rout and picked up Robmacks "unit"

i did already modify the indicator signal.

I have the old style of fuel level sender, i dont know how it will work...

haha, i think its a scientific term... all i know is they changed the design the year after, or maybe even mid year? mine is a 1985

yes, the two fuel level lights is correct. it has been an ongoing battle for the last month, the plastic cap failed and was leaking gas, they dont manufacture the part anymore, i had to buy a bolt with the correct threading, weld a washer to it and drill it out to fit the fuel sender probe thing. it was frustrating
