OK Packo, I will start this afternoon after I get a sump back on the other one. If you get a minute can you please measure your lead and track for me? I have been wanting to measure Al's but we are all locked down. I used these last time but it was a bit of a wanderer, I think it was too wide it weaved around a bit.

Waz,
Track is 1370mm centre to centre of tyres
Lead is 285mm
The track width is generally around that (1350 ish) so that the outfit will straddle the two wheeled tracks without having to run one wheel up on the middle hump. Generally made to fit the 4x4 track ie Landcruiser.
I think the regs say that overall outfit width from RH mirror to widest part of sidecar must not exceed 1850 but it would pay to check that.
Supposed to be good info available here: -R&c[0]=AT3U_jbavtgMHsVo6_KqXeregcdMrC1q2L-KoVudrYS4CnUQLKRrLxrv1fQP_jaSta0iTj-_ijB0GCaZv5bvnqmPo4C0aKITyWsE1sCDo7UZdyHz25PxjU3FZTZeLYaMnkDIKjamAoO78DUiacbkYEfxS1ga-eEN5Vdp_cFa1TkEY6rN9hd6BTdSsyUhaMIMT9kOJEZbYeqa]http://www.threewheelsbetter.uk but I haven't read it

I'll get the tape measure out and do some measurements for you Waz.
I was recently fidgeting about and actually did a measurement of my toe in. It rode ok but was sometimes a bit of work so I thought I'd at least check. Let's just say that I increased the toe in by quite a bit. Still runs straight, easily. Steering on right turns is much lighter and easier on my shoulders. Left turns feel little different and if I push it harder, the sidecar wheel lifts a little anyway, then the toein makes no difference as the wheel isn't contacting the road.

So I got my 6ft straight edge, large steel square and tape measure on the job.
The track on mine is 1370mm from tyre centre to centre.
Sidecar lead is 340mm
Overall width from sidecar mudguard to the outside edge of my mirror is 1850mm. Measuring to the end of the barend weight or outside edge of the pannier would be wider. Remember that mine is a one and a half, yours is a single, you have plenty of width to play with.
When I bought the Leigh Hollamby outfit that supplied all the good bits this sidecar chassis did originally have a single DJP body on it(its not a DJP chassis). I had the chassis widened for the HRD one and a half body and modded the shock mounting so it fits under the HRD mudguard.
Hope it helps.

That wheel went a long way on its own. I will never forget that, I don’t know what scared me more. There was the shaking itself violently before wheel departed or trying to stay on the road with only two wheels or the most terrifying was when you doubled me back on your sidecar and you overtook two sports bikes through the mountains, both riders looked at me in disbelief as you rounded them up. After being on the back of yours if made my realise mine didn’t handle very well even with three wheels. I still appreciate the double but my eyes where the size of dinner plates.

I went out to do a 5 minute job, bolt a new mini drum brake on but the backing plate was in wrong place. Spent hours cutting, grinding and welding, still not bolted on. 5 minute jobs take me all day.

Looking good, Waz.
Where do you find these DJPs in such good nick? What year is it, do you know?
Is the bike ex-police or are you going for the solo seat option?
My K project seems to be going backwards at the moment. The sidecar is pretty much ready to bolt on, with some cutting and welding. The sub frame is ready, the rear wheel adaptor installed. The bike is running, though needs some tweaks. In the meantime though, my brother has given me a Hardly Driveable and I would like to get it on the road before he passes, so the sidecar intended for the K100 will now be used on the Evo.
However, I happened across yet another sidecar in the wilds of Stanthorpe from a certain chap who has had a bit to do with BMWs over the years..and it's in pretty good nick actually, so I hope to get to it over the warmer months and put it on the K bike.
Glad you asked, aren't you....

Yes I am glad I asked, glad you have projects going. I picked DJP up from Rockman, not sure of the year the serial numbers and plate are painted over, the bike is not a police bike (nothing wrong with police bikes) its an RS. I put the single seat and box on with LT bars looks funny but its comfortable. So you are putting the silver DJP on Tim's Hardly and Ricks red sidecar one on the K100 and the Triumph has one fitted as well. I am so envious.

Good news Waz, keep chipping away at it and all of a sudden you will realise that you are doing the finishing touches.
Appears that most of the leg/fab work has now been done, looking good
Nothing wrong in sticking the boat on as is or just strap some ballast on the chassis and going for a squirt around the block to see how it tracks etc - just a little reward for your efforts so far; we all need a bit of encouragement every now & then on these big projects
If it is all good other than "tweeking" it should give you renewed enthusiasm for the electrics & painting
Enquiring minds need to know what progress is being made, you never know we might even encourage you
I will look forward to the next update

I sold two r1100 bikes to make room in my little shed to work on it but before long I got another K100 and 1200gs, no room again. I have plans to move it in a couple of weeks to a shed where I can paint bottom half and vynal wrap the topside of sidecar body, fit steering damper and a couple of little jobs to finish it.
Will see some progress in September.
