Hello from New Jersey! (USA)

New owner of a 1987 K100 LT bought just this November for for a song!  (Thanks my friend!) Immediately changed all fluids and put on new tires.   (checked/ lubed rear spline when doing tire and it also looks good) Runs great!

Only been able to put <200 miles on her before winter hit and now can't stop thinking about spring thaw.    To pass the time I have most of the painted bits off and should be headed to the painter soon.
Can't stand the bronze color ...way too bland for me.  Looking to really brighten it up with a medium dark metallic blue.   Some real fun in the sun coloring!... roundel  I'll post a pic when I'm allowed.

Welkome aboard from down under where it is just a bit too warm at the moment.

Like all of us on here I'm sure you will love the K and have many miles of sheer pleasure travelling on it.

Cheers

Welcome,

Sounds like a good to time to give it a little extra TLC with the added benefit you'll get to know it a bit more personally. I've added a few things to the routine maintenance considering the're 30 years old now.

Enjoy.

Welcome!  Is it Newfoundland or New Jersey?

Bricks look good in blue, as long as it's metallic and not too light.  +1 on going into it a bit deeper while you wait for spring.  It is very good practice on these old bikes to thoroughly clean all the electrical connections, make sure all the rubber hoses and bits are in good nick, put a little anti-seize on all the fasteners, and torque them to the proper spec.

Be aware that you can get the K-pox from your "new" bike.

Hi Arlina,
Welcome. As a new owner since September I have to say you have found a great home on this forum. The only downside seems to be that becoming a K obsessive becomes the new normal.

If you paint it white and wear a white helmet then people will mistake you for a cop and get out of your way.

Thanks Everyone for the Welcome!

I am getting obsessed very quickly.   bounce  I decided this weekend to hold off on painting for now and use money for gear.  Can always paint this fall.  I need pants and proper boots now.

Glad I took it apart regardless (never took front fairing completely off so not everything).  I know more about it and I needed gas tank off to troubleshoot why the dash electric socket has no power to it.

Once I figure that out and clean any electric contacts I can find while I'm there, I'll be putting her back together.

It's 59 in NJ today and I'd be on her after work if together!

Thanks, seems like that's all most of these awesome K bikes need, extra TLC and they'll run headache free

Hey, can someone tell me how do you post a pic in this forum?  Do you all just link PhotoBucket pics or similar?  Been on other RC (large scale radio control) forums and never had an issue.
