Looking for a set of those square looking handguards they used on older k bikes. Thanks in advance

They weren't a K model accessory; they were an R100GS accessory. MAX BMW now lists this model as NA in their parts fiche. Click this link then click on 32-Steering.

Thanks for that. They have white ones. I'll be looking for black.

Anyone have suggestions for other handguards that could be used on a 1992 k75 standard?

Using ETK as a tool, check out R100GS-PD and see that they have a black plastic option. The kit or set may not be available, otherwise the individual pieces are still.

71 60 2 315 870 set
Or
32 71 2 315 711 & 712 L & R black guards
71 60 2 315 713 black MC cover,
Plus the required hardware shown in ETK.

There's a good chance your nearest motorbike shop that specializes in BMW has black ones, mine did on last visit, but I'm on the other side of the world.

Why not use the standard BMW ones that fit the K75 like I did?

Watch this space - I'll try to dig out part numbers etc. from when I did my K75 project.

Cheers

BMW Part number 71602315870

Available from Motoworks in the UK (see this link)

With the part number I'm sure you will find some in the USA.

Good luck

Cheers

Edit: should have read TWBs post above before posting.

Unless you plan to be riding your K75 through bushes they're probably not worth much.  I've run them on a K75 and they didn't seem to keep my hands any warmer or drier so I got rid of them.

YMMV.

I recommend using the forum's PM system for communicating on a personal level rather than posting your email address up for all the nasty bots to see.

Has anyone fit the R100gs handguards to a K75 lately. There appears to be 2 models that fit. One has a brake master cylinder fitment or cover and the other does not. Anyway just curious if there is any modification you need to make to get them to fit the k75. The right one looks like it needs to be cut on the area under the brake lever. Thanks in advance!

Did anyone need to modify or cut the handguards to fit their K bike? Any pictures closeup of how they fit from under the brake lever? They don't appear to fit without some cutting of the handguard. The ones I have are new, BMW part # 71602303496. and part# 71609062160. I don't want to do any unnecessary surgery, but needed surgery, I'm ready.

Yes. I needed to do that. Installation is less like surgery and more like fingernail paring. Slight work with a chainsaw file, round face file or light grinding disk on the plastic might be necessary. Get started and what is necessary will become clear. Post a photo of your purchase to clarify what you have.

I consider them additional protection against road debris and strikes in close quarter maneuvering—from tree branches along narrow rural roads, for example. My gloves perform wind protection duty.

Thanks Laitch! I'm going to do some filing and I believe it's what's needed. I'll get back and let you know what I did and how it went.

After some Dremil work and filing I got them on. Thanks for the pictures Laitch. The pair I have are a little different than yours. I have got to figure out how to put pictures here. I'm going to try another pair that I'm purchasing from another member on this Forum. They look to be more like your model. Very grateful for all the help I've gotten on this site.
