I'm building a new wiring loom for LFB and just did something really, really stupid - I punched the four pins out of the fuel tank connector without noting where they went. 'Ah - not a problem' thinks I 'the terminals must be marked somewhere'. After ten minutes of closely inspecting two round connectors and two fuel senders, 'are they bollocks marked somewhere' thinks I. Can someone help with a photograph / colours with reference to the locator cutout? The wires are brown, brown/red, green/white and brown/yellow.

Looking at the rear of the tank connector where the wires enter with the rounded edge uppermost, the brown is upper right, going clockwise from there, is white at lower right, yellow at lower left, and green at upper left.

What is LFB?

Not sure if this helps Dai, UK spec ‘85 RT. Curve uppermost, the top right is Green/White but the other 3 are solid colours. Good luck.

Duck: the problem with the wiring diagram is that it gives you the terminal designations, but there's no corresponding markings on either the round connector or the screw-in bit on the fuel tank.

I'll be able to photgraph my '84 K100 this afternoon if that helps?

In the shed at the mo, cannot add pics on my phone. Looking at the rear of the plug, with the notch at 12 o’clock:
Bottom left is brown with black
Bottom right is brown with white
Top right is brown
Top left is - green with white

The last one has been repaired by me some time ago- is the colour correct?

Edit: second inspection shows the bottom right wire is brown with white. The colours now all accord with Haynes diagram for early k100s, with the exception of my repaired wire - which should be green with black according to Haynes. I probs didn’t have any when I repaired it! Does this fit with what you’ve got Dai?

Edit2: the Haynes colour is green with white! Don’t trust a dyslexic would be electrician. Especially a colour blind one too. So everything is correct on my bike/the above list.

Edit3(going for the record): Here's a pic, not working with much eh? Trust me, the bottom left wire is brown with black, bottom right is brown with (yellowing) white, top right is brown and top left, having detached itself from the connector and absented itself from this pic, is green with dirty white. The yellow wire is my previous repair. Looks like I've got some work to do. Do you/can you replace the terminals after you've removed them from the plug? if so, with what?

That sounds like it Chris. Dunno why I used a brown/red wire but it's easy enough to replace with a brown/black anyway. Brown/yellow can be excused as a faded brown/white.

As for pins: you can get the original ones from Farnell (or 'Silicon14' as the trade name is) but I also discovered that with a bit of abuse you can get Molex 93-thou series pins to fit. They're easier to get as quite a few resellers now have them at exorbitant unit prices as part of a plug'n'socket kit e.g.

Looks like they've cut the photographic model from a belt feed as they don't normally have 'wings' on. Anyway, PM me and I'll send you half-a-dozen. I buy them in bulk because they're OEM for almost all older Japanese wiring looms. Unfortunately in recent years there's been a distressing tendency for Kawayamahonzuki to switch over to a combination of bloody expensive waterproof Tyco/Amp connectors mixed with somewhat cheaper 2.4mm flat terminals in non-wet areas.

Cheers Dai, useful info. I've got some molex pins & sockets, and as for mechanical abuse to make them fit, well you know I've got plenty of that too.
