Hi Guys!

I've been a lurker here for a few weeks - and finally registered.

I am keen on buying a '84 K100 as a project bike (please dont judge me purists).

Ive been doing lots and lots of research and thus far:

1. I have identified a good prospect for about $1500 (this seems what they go for more of less in South Africa, ive seen stripped parts bikes go for similar prices). Bike was silver, the current owner resprayed it yellow and also redid the seat.

2. Bike is CLEAN - so clean that I am not too keen to start stripping just yet. I am keen to buy the bike, start getting used to her and set out a decent project sheet and buying parts BEFORE starting anything.

Thoughts, oppinions, etc all welcome

Welcome!

Having owned a Dakar Yellow K75S I have to say I rather like the looks of your K.

Bike looks to be in pretty nice shape.  For $1500 I would say you got a pretty good deal.  I would recommend that you enjoy the bike as it is for a while before getting into your project.  Old K's are getting rare enough now that a good one in stock shape can draw attention in a group.

Artistic self-expression using a motorcycle—or any other medium—will be a futile undertaking if dependent upon the approval of others in an environment devoid of criticism. Ignore purists instead of trying to control them and move ahead with the project.

Margarine is an appealing color though.
